Help B+ :/

So I grew golden teacher two years ago Using Brf pf tek. Fully colonized in 6 days at room temp 65F. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Started growing B+ 8 days ago. Mycelium is 3 by 3 inch circle at 75F
Wtf... why is this taking so long?
Genes? Temp? The fact that the syringe didnt go deep enough? Why does one of my jars not have any Sign of life? *I only have two jars*
The syringe looks low quality. I remember getting beautiful clumps from [REDACTED] but this was only kinda grey with wood fragments?

6 day colonization was an extremely lucky random occurrence. Most cubes colonize around the same speed, given similar temps and clean inoculate. only TOC is consistently faster than average that I’ve grown.
Cakes nocc’d with a spore syringe can vary wildly depending on the age of the spores, how long they take to germinate, amount of possible bacteria, the dominant genetics. Some spores can take up to two weeks just to germinate and get started.
I’d definitely do 6 cakes at a time at the bare minimum. Preferably 12+ with 2-3 different syringes because you’re always taking a gamble growing straight from syringe since you can’t see what’s inside it before putting it to your substrate.

That rate seems normal to me. You may not be remembering your GT grow clearly. 6 days from spore is insanely fast. Many times it takes 6 days just to see signs of germination
I am sure those aren't wood fragments you are seeing, but spore clumps. That vendor is always quality.
Also, you shouldn't mention vendors by name here in mushroom cultivation. Its against the rules

I’m completely new so keep that in mind. These are my noob observations. I’ve got 6 GT PF jars going at the moment. It’s been about a month since they were inoculated from a MSS. 3 jars are now completely white with mycelium but it’s very thin and still needs time to consolidate. The other 3 jars are still slowly colonizing. In my sole experience it’s been painstakingly slow. While waiting for these GT BRF jars I’ve, made agar, inoculated on agar, done a few transfers, grew out some plates, transferred agar to jars of grain and as of last night half my jars are fully colonized.
While waiting for the jars of grain (B+), I figured I’d play around with the remaining B+ mss (I only used a few drops on agar). I made up another 6 jars (2 are B+, 2 pesa, 2 ape) of pftek brf jars. I used way more of the the mss on these six jars then what I’ve read the tek calls for. At the one week mark I just started seeing growth. It will be 2 weeks next Sunday and as of last night all 6 jars were starting to really take off fast. It looks as though my 6 jars with much more spores dropped in will over take the three slow GT jars that are a month old. All of the jars are sitting on the same shelf side by side.
Like I said though, just my noob observations.

Yes, this guy is the only seller Ive trusted for 4 years.
So I was suprised at how low quality these spores were, After shaking them multiple times, 80% of them were stuck to the syringe side.
I know what spore clumps look like, and this was not that, it is a long strand of a woody material but being someobe who made syringes myself have no idea how it got in there. Might be old spores that lined up on the syringe and seperated in a log shape?
Anyways, no disrespect to him, Im going to buy more, Im guessing the genes arent good, they are old, or something heat wise happened to the syringe. I live in South Texas

I still think the spores you got are perfectly fine. Average colonization times for cakes is 2-4 weeks. Just be patient.
Also, I am interested in the woody bit in the syringe. Can you upload a pic?

for sure. I called to order another strain and told her about it and she said she had gotten many calls about that lately so its likely not me.
I usually am VERY satisfied with their stuff, they actually refunded me though I said it was ok.

Patience is definitely a virtue in this hobby. Looks like you posted a GT grow two years ago, and it took 18 days for full colonization. Make sure you have your facts straight before complaining about a vendor

That was a seperate grow buddy. But Im glad you felt like CSI Joe for 12 minutes
And even then, in that grow it was fully colonized after 13 days and I let ot sit 5 days over.
Make sure you read the Original Post more carefully before you complain about someones post trying to school them

You’re impatient. I don’t buy 6 days from MS.

I have gone 5-6 weeks in some instances. 6 days? That would be remarkable. I always thought you give it 5-7 days once its done. I have seen them colonize at different rates across a study of 33 jars. 1 legacy GT print sample, 4(B+,MDK,Amazon,GT) new strains 2 different dates 4 syringes each go. 5, 7 7 6 6 2 MS witches brew. It was all over the board across all three start dates. That was two different sets. My legacy GT was all over the board too. They were the first four and the last 1 at 7 weeks out. Lost two jars everything else produced and is producing like crazy in coco coir verm and gypsum. Every day is Christmas . I did see some come up in 21 days out of well over 100(S) and another 30(F)jars while I was learning in the short time I have been doing this. The transition to normal plant light exposure had an impact on how quickly things came along as well as a heated surface.

You misunderstood.
Ive waited months before.
Im not "impatient"
I just want to understand why this is significantly slower than every other grow Ive done over the last 3 years.

The jars were very small pucks if that changes it and I inoculated 4 holes down the sides.
Didnt take long. A bigger jar, probably would have been a long time

I basically just let them go until they are ready. That is easy to do if you do 8-16 jar cycles every couple of weeks. Now the process is a constant cycle. Plenty of choices to be had. The pain for me is 4 new sample types into the mix, all the choices is not easy!
