What causes thin (transparent myc) on agar

Hey, I made a post a while ago asking about my plates. I use 10g agar 8g lme and 500ml water. I've never had a problem before but latley all my transfers apart from 2 plates which are normal are growing out super thin and transparent. Should I go with more nutrients or less as I'm using 8g LME?

This is pretty much the same as your other thread where you got some good answers from a TC and others. Why are you starting another thread?

I've ruled out what they have suggested and when I comment back on a thread after a while I rarely get a response

At least 3 people in that thread including RogerRabbit said it's the nutrients in the agar.

Yes RR did say to scale back the nutrients. I'm using 8g LME per 500ml of water and 10g agar. So would you actually recommend dropping that down again like he suggested? I would of thought that would be too weak.

So would you suggest lowering the nutrients to 5g or being it up to 10g?

Go lower. I was literally about to make the same thread and saw this.
I accidentally nearly doubled the agar and lme and have the same type of growth across culture and species. Super super slow too.

What is your recipe atm? That's exactly what's going on with all my plates but I didnt have this problem a few months ago with the same recipe.

I normally do 8g of both agar and lme per 450ml and have no problems.
This batch that’s growing thin had about 1/3 bottle of unused agar but I still used 8g like normal which isn’t usually a problem adding on to the leftovers. The thing was the stuff left in the bottle was from making slants so it was super high amounts.
Also idk if it’s related but I heated the bottle up at least three times and wasn’t able to pour it before I finally used it. I don’t think repeated melting and cooling should matter though.

Great info there, thank you. I'll make up a batch of 8g agar 7.5 LME. So after I have better growth from that mix could I go back to another ratio or would that result in whispy mycelium again?
Also I didnt know that certain ratios promote rhizo growth
