ID REQUEST - edibles
    #26994846 - 10/20/20 03:47 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

My girlfriend wont let me cook with these until I get an ID. Both types were found in Galicia, Spain at about 100m above sea level, under Pine trees.

Mushroom #1: my guess is Lactarius deterrimus or Lactarius deliciosus.. not quite sure how to tell the difference except the coloring on the stem. Some caps are totally orange and some have lots of green, prior to any bruising. Some of the greener ones have an unpleasant smell, quite acrid..

Mushroom #2: my guess is Golden Chanterelle. Pale yellow to Golden orange color. All found in small clusters close to pine and moss. None are larger than 3.5 inches. Gills are vein-like and quite sturdy. Very pleasant fruity apricot like smell.

Any information is appreciated. Cheers!

You got it, good job!!! There are a couple other Lactarius species that are very similar macroscopically, but I don’t think that it makes a difference when it comes to edibility. Although they might taste slightly different, more bitter for example. Is the latex bitter?
