Is this rotten/safe to eat?

I harvested my first mushrooms the other day and then went about drying them like people said. I put them in front of a fan for 24 hours and they seemed super dry. When I re-weighed them they had lost like 70% of their wet weight. I then put them in a jar with a silica gel packet. When I checked on them 1.5 days later, they were mushy. And they had darkened significantly in color.
In the picture you can see one of the mushrooms compared to another dry mushroom that hadn't been put in a jar.
Is the darker one safe to eat or is that just rotten now? Or is that color change normal?

Those don’t look too bad but if you’re planning on drying them with just a fan and not an actual dehydrator, it will probably take more than 24 hours
A rough estimate is that mushrooms are about 90% water so 70% loss of weight wouldn’t be close. Also, that 90% is a very rough estimate and should not be used to identify properly dried mushrooms. If you think they are all the way dry, weigh them, and then keep drying, then weigh again. Once they stop losing weight they are dry
Or just buy a dehydrator and do it properly.

The one on top has suffered quite a bit from damp storage.

That's not a good way to dry them, as you discovered. On high heat in a food dehydrator is.

That's a good indicator that they had a lot of water left. Mushrooms typically lose 88-93% of their wet weight.

I actually have a dehydrator on the way, just need to make due until they get here! I'll just keep these in front of a fan for now. Will probably brew them into a tea tonight.

if it doesn't stink or have mold on it, then it's probably ok to boil into tea. That's always an option if you have some fresh ones that can't be dried soon enough. Make tea and freeze it.
Mushrooms also keep in the fridge decently for about a week.

I probably wouldn't chance it: would you eat a normal dried mushroom that looked like that?
Cracker dry means just that. And they should loose close to 90% of their weight. Those dudes are pretty solid, so very easily could have had moisture in the middle given they only lost 70%... Maybe should have cut them in half prior to drying...
You've still got sub on them as well. Do you need the extra fiber?
In summary: I wouldn't chance it and would make sure they're properly dried next time.

Pearl seems to be coming from the better safe than sorry group, which is definitely the smart way to go about doing this, but that probably depends on how many mushrooms you have. If it were me, I would toss those, but that's because I have more mushrooms that I can even eat. However, if that's all I had, I would munch them down right now!!

Humans have some great senses for good reason, primary being to determine if food is safe to eat or not... the SAS Survival Handbook has this advice regarding foods you know are safe when prepared correctly, but are questionable if they are spoiled: 1. How does it look? If it looks like you should not eat it, then don't. 2. If you can't get anything definitive from looking at it, then how does it smell? If it smells like you should not eat it, then don't. Pay attention to pungent odors, especially those that remind you of death, decay, and disgust. 3. If you can't get anything definitive from smell, then how does it taste? Sample a minuscule amount of the food. If it tastes like you shouldn't eat it, then don't. Pay attention to the texture, flavor, and overall experience of it. If it tastes like you shouldn't eat it, then don't.
Personally I would toss them, the last thing I would enjoy experiencing while tripping is puking my guts out. If you are growing your own shrooms, surely you have more, either already or on the way, but the above advice is generally a good rule of thumb.

They don't look great.
