Habitat: Found in a local park on woodchips in Washington State, USA.
Spore print color: Still waiting on that, will update in 24 hours. Too excited and had to post immediately.
Bruising: Lots of blue!
Photos:

These are the first magic mushrooms (well, hopefully) I've ever found! Thanks for taking the time to review my post.

Those are Psilocybe cyanescens
Some of those were picked a bit early though.
Congrats good finds

Thanks! When are you supposed to pick them? I read something that said you should pick them before the caps open because once the caps open the psilocin starts to fall out (and that's why the top of the stem sometimes turns blue). For all I know, someone could have made that up though

TI is a “trusted identifier” someone with that badge has earned the title. It basically means they consistently give accurate identifications.
Those are psilocybe cyanescens for sure.
Chuck was right about the early picking. Picking pins is bad educate. You never know when someone else is working a patch. Picking half the matures is good educate. Matures will have a wavy cap.

Definitely sounds made up. When the cap opens the mushrooms drop their spores, which is how they spread. It has nothing to do with the blue bruising, which is caused by damage to the flesh of the mushroom. Essentially when you pick them before they open you restrict their ability to proliferate and spread.
Welcome to the Shroomery by the way.

plus there is a lot of misinformation about loss of potency etc. The silky white cortina partial vail is one of the taxonomic identifiers of the species so it's good to know about it. However if it has not broken yet, it is too early to harvest.
They will get much bigger and therefore contain more actives if you wait.

Wow, thank you for the advice and help everyone! I will only pick the bigger ones from now on!
I also thought I read that you can use a q-tip to pick up the spores from the spore prints, put them in a water bottle with distilled water and spread them? Was planning on trying that. How long will be it before they fruit?

You can absolutely do that and there are other more effecient methods as well too. This is absolutely an awesome and good guy thing to do because it helps spread the spores.
The areas you are kinda sporing up won't fruit for another year or so.
