I've tried and failed this like three times based on random guides found on the internet, and even on the description on the Ebay page for the Calea cuttings I bought. |:(
If anyone has any experience or a article to reference me to -- or better yet a compendium of knowledge to refer me to -- it would be much appreciated. I don't want to waste the 7.50 $ to order another round before having my ducks in a row.
Also 1st post ... ready to get it!!!

I don't know anything about that plant, but here are the three ways I got cuttings to root.
1.Half perlite and half vermiculite in small styrofoam coffee cups, with some small holes in the bottom of the cup. Water it regularly. Start using quarter strength fertilizer solution after day 10.
2. Jiffy 7 peat pellets inside $7 humidity dome. I would melt a few small air holes in the dome. I used this most often and it was usually quicker.
3. Homemade bubble cloner with aquarium pump. There are videos for making these.
I sometimes used rooting gel or powder with the first two methods, but I'm not sure if it makes a difference.
The roots are going to come out of the lowest node. Cut it diagonally with a razor blade below that node (usually the third node)
I can provide a little more information on each of these methods if you know what you want to try.

I have some experience growing this plant. Or atleast, the "real" bitter type. There are two variants sold online. They are known as non-bitter and bitter. bitter is supposedly the real dream herb, however I never have tried the non-bitter plant. It did mess with my dreams a bit but I never had lucid dreams from it. It was more like taking a tolerance break from weed and have extremely vivid and "bright" dreams. The two variants can be distinguished by their leaves. Bitter type should have rounder leaves compared to the non-bitter which have pointy ends and are much shinier. You can also try eating a leaf and that will probably immediately tell you lol. It's awful!
My suggestion is if your plant is large enough, take many clones and keep them in water until the roots are several inches long. They die very easily, and once they get sick it's almost impossible for them to recover. Replace the water maybe twice a week to ensure no stagnation.

i have both types and they were grown from the same 5 identical seed pods, that were found in a 1OZ dry leaf bag i bought from ebay several years ago.
type 1 known as the 'real' calea Z.. short-bushy, slow, low weeping branching growth, more rounded shape leaf, with shorter leaf stem.

type 2 is known as fake calea? but i think it's very similar.. maybe even a morphology of the same plant.. same smell, taste same, grows faster, and tall, very bushy, a 10ft wall of calea took over my dads flower bed.

.cuttings are taken directly below a node, most bottom leaves are removed, several top leaves are left on the stem. they root easily left in cup of water (type 2 roots faster and easier) placed in good lighting for couple of weeks.
