Hey everyone, been lurking forever but this is my first post. I'm probably gonna be asking a ton of questions in the near future because i've been using the search engine for everything, but get tons of contradictory and just really old info, and its hard to figure out who's right, especially with my budget ATM I cant afford too much experimentation right now. Anyways, sorry, stoned. I'm currently incubating 11 BRF jars(1 got cobweb). 7 KSSS and 4 PE from the rest of the syringe from my first grow attempt about 2 months ago. Its now been 12 days since inoculation and the 4 PE are going fantastic, about 50% colonized, all myc looking super healthy. But the KSSS, out of the 7 in there, only 3 have any myc, and only like 10-15% coverage on those at best. The other 4 KSSS jars are completely lifeless it seems. I know that KSSS typically grows slower right? But these seem sterile, idk. Maybe I just didnt shake the spores enough enough first? I didnt even see any in the syringe I bought like i did with the PE. Same vendor btw. Anyone with experience in KSSS have any insights?
Sorry this might be TL;DR but ive also been using a graphite heating pad on the floor while my SAB I'm incubating with is inside of a sleeping bag on top of the pad. But I just read a few old posts saying heating pads and direct heat are bad for jars? Should I abandon the pad? Its almost winter and it'll be getting cool in here so I dont know what the best option is. Sorry if this is a ramble but any guidance would be appreciated, as well as anyone that might be able to pm me and clear up a few other questions ive got. Thanks, later y'all 💜

Hi there bud, welcome to the shroomery, Offically!
First off, Try to space out your sentences to at least one or two sentences per space as no one likes reading a huge wall of text as it's hard to take everything in when it's a big white bundle of words.
But I would say give your jars more time especially using BRF as you used a syringe. MS syringes are very variable in what you are going to get. Some might have got faster growth genes, some may have got the poopshoot.
I know that I have had jars that took 3 weeks to show even a slight bit of mycelium with syringes, just depends.
And you should never use a heating pad in this hobby. If anything a space heater that doesn't blow hot air out can be useful if temps are very low in your house but besides that you don't need any pads or extra heat. 70-75F is a good temp.
Also make sure your jars/monotubs/agar/anything to do with mushrooms is getting light. They love that shit. Passive sunlight through a window works but you should get some 6500k bulbs, they are cheap and work well. Sure they can grow without it, but so can humans and we don't turn out very good without light.
Hope you have great success my man!
