Well that was (is?) nice. Small patch in rough pasture 300m from my house in North Somerset. Elevation only about 20m above sea level. Making sure there's always a good few left I collected 20+ over a few days for a mild trip this morning.
Funny thing was I thought I'd given up foraging.
The Mendips last year was sparse or maybe I was just unlucky but thanks to Shroomery I learnt to cultivate - did a couple of great B+ grows and have a nice dried stash.

Nice work Googolplex. You are probably not too far from me being in East Kent so that gives me some hope.
How high up were you?

The Welsh government is putting us in a two-week lockdown right as the season gets going!
I completely understand if they want to stop people meeting indoors, but who on earth am I hurting gathering mushrooms out on the windswept hills?
I'll just throw on some lycra and make it part of my daily exercise!!

Hi guys, I'm in East Sussex, only about 500 ft above sea level, but I have found them in the fields around me before. Went out for a quick look on Friday and nothing, even though its been pretty cold these last days, but hardly any rain. Anyone had any luck? Will they have had time to pop up over the last couple of days? Not sure how long they take to grow. Cheers B

Thanks for the advice Sid Shroom much appreciated! Yeh I just don't think they are where I'm looking, I would've come across them by now for sure I reckon if they were there. Seemed like the perfect fields for some finds so not sure why I keep coming up empty. Gonna try another couple of fields-they don't have animals grazing but I might get lucky at last. I was getting a bit despondent but looking forward to going out again in a couple days trying some new spots.

Sometimes you look far and wide, only to find them a lot closer to home and always under your nose!
I used to cultivate cubensis for years, until a kind Shroomerite presented the opportunity to try liberty caps and haven't looked back.
How was your trip?

Hi all, new to the site. They found me today, just out walking the dog on grassy heathland and there they were, I thought hello friends not played with you for about 20 years. Collected 15 from the north side of a gorse bush but light was fading so will have to go back in a few days, Just made a nice tea with them, not expecting anything to heavy if anything, as it was just over a gram wet, in my 50s now still haven't grown up lol, did lots of pills & acid in my 20s, and a few shrooms in my 30s, will let you know how it goes. Think I've found my new dog walking spot. (pics in my gallery if you want)

Thanks mate and nice finds. Couple of other pics I took on my last hunt.

I've really enjoyed my first season. Something therapeutic about the whole process.

You're so right. I've never found any in that field before and this time there they were.
I used to never just go foraging. If I happened on a patch when walking I'd be after a "museum dose". I like the world with sparkles. I got that yesterday on the way up to a happy place, but not on the way up on the trips with my B+ which have all been great otherwise.
Maybe I should try different spores, or maybe it's just coincidence/my imagination?

Hi fellow nature lovers, so cards on table I'm new to foraging and so far having zero luck despite having what should be ideal habitats nearby. Anyone having / had any luck in NE Lincolnshire? Am wondering if the low lying land is the problem, may need to head to Yorkshire but my travel options are limited. Any help with local scouting would be very much appreciated! PM me? : ) Looks like many are having some good hauls n I don't wanna miss out on the spirit medicine

Another fail today. Must have clocked 20 hours in the last 2 weeks. Covered every inch of Richmond Park, Kew Gardens, cow fields in Ham and loads of other pastures, fields and other grassy areas. Much of which looks very similar to land where I’ve been successful before (20 years ago). Not a sausage. I see a couple of others on this page saying similar things. I saw a lot of those LBMs that tugboi saw in Harlow too..and being disappointed on closer inspection.
Is it possible that the weather isn’t quite right yet in the south east and I should try again in a couple of weeks, or are these places just likely to be no good, perhaps something to do with being in too populous or urban area? Can any experts give any advice?
I was spoilt in 1993 when i discovered they carpeted the school golf course (posh boarding school). Was very popular with my school mates the day I found them! Wish it was so easy these days.

Psilocybin Man said: Does keeping them in the fridge make much of a difference? I just dry in dehydrator, keep in a mason jar in the cupboard with desiccant.
The most important step is to dry them completely as soon as possible. Overnight in a hot press is ideal. I dry them on hard cardboard. The heat in the hot press (cylinder heated by a stove in my case) causes the tiny maggots to stop eating your mushrooms, and most crawl out onto the cardboard and die. All but the youngest, freshest mushrooms will have at least one tiny grub in the cap. The longer you leave the fresh mushrooms at room temperature or even in the fridge, the more material you are losing to maggots.
Then they should be placed in an airtight container or jar with desiccant as you describe. It seems that the lower the temperature at this point, the less degradation of psilocybin will occur over time. I keep my container in the fridge, and haven't noticed too much (if any) loss of potency over a couple of years. I don't think there's any need to put in the freezer, although it won't do any harm, according to my understanding.
