Is this looking okay, or is it contaminated?

That cube was a section of King Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus eryngii), it - as well as the other samples I have - have now gone white and fuzzy. Is that mycelium growing or are they contaminated?
I have one that I'm pretty sure is actually contaminated, but I'm hoping these are mycelium... ?

This one might be contaminated I guess: (?)

They fuzz up and will grow out on the 2d agar. Looks normal

Oh that's great news, thanks!
So do you mean that I have to transfer them to a second agar plate now? Will they not spread to the agar on these plates?
Sorry I'm a real agar newb.

The purpose of the transfer is to ensure you eventually have a plate with no contams, only mycelium.
When you have said plate with no contams, it can be used to inoculate/do whatever with.
Obviously the prior plates can as well, but if they're contaminated it isn't advisable.

Yes, I understand that much. But I don't have to do any transfer right now, right? I should wait until the mycellium grows out a bit more onto the agar and then take wedge ... right? ... or?

If you took the transfer now, you'd only be able to take it from the sample itself... It's barely touched the agar...
Yes, let it grow out a bit and take a transfer from the cleanest, strongest looking side.

Thanks for your help!
It's growing very slowly unfortunately. I guess it draws "water" from the agar?
Thanks again.

Water and nutrients (LME or whatever you put in besides agar and water... )
I think of it nearly like a stasis pod for the myc...
There's enough air, water and food in there for it to live, but not enough of any for it to get too excited, party, and run out too quick - if that makes any sense.
You can then use this isolated growth to move away from contams and select the strongest parts, hoping that will lead to quick, good fruiting.
*I'm sure you know a lot of this, but I think explaining things where you can may help others who are reading this in the future.

Actually, I don't, despite my long membership time, so thank you.
This is the first time I've tried with agar and doing fancy things (previously I spent most of my time in the hunting forum, and had a break from this form for about 15 years).
So what I understood from that is, "don't stress, it's normal for it to be very slow on agar"...

How long ago were these pieces put to agar? And are you keeping them at room temps?
Looks totally normal so far and once they get a foothold on the agar, you'll see faster growth so no need to worry.

I put them on agar almost a week ago. About six days. Yes, I'm keeping them at room temperature, but that can get pretty cool going into autumn here in Sweden.
They are King Oysters, which I believe don't really require a very warm environment. (?)

King oysters don't mind the cold at all. Give it a bit more time I think it will start running across the agar. If it doesn't, it may be your agar recipe because that tissue is alive and healthy looking.

It's already running across the agar ... over night it stepped up big time. I'm quite excited, looks like this is going to work afterall.
Pity none of the wild ones I picked worked (I got these King Oysters from a street market).
