    #26992466 - 10/19/20 08:26 AM (3 years, 3 months ago)

My shoeboxes have been going for about 10 days. One of them has growth I haven't seen before but wondering if its just mycelium, or is it contams?

Looks more tomentose mycelium rather than rhizomorphic. Either way it's still mycelium.

Do you know what would cause the differing types of Myce?

my understanding is that tomentose growth sometimes indicates a wealth of nutrients in the growing medium while rhizomorphic growth occurs when the myc is "looking" for nutrients in a less rich environment.

also, some strains are more prone to one or the other than other strains are.

looks like myc to me.

mycelium changes forms based on lots of things. tomentose and rhizo growth are both good.
