The left is NOT oyster.
The right might be russela. No eating till you talk to a trusted identifier (not me!)

How’s the trip on the Allenii??

I have not tripped on them but I’m told they are a bit like Ps. Cyanescens but not quite as potent.

Thanks for the reply.  Do you suppose the one on the left could be Lactifluus piperatus?

Yes, and how the growth is disorganized so it looks like polyfill.

I forgot who said it first, but good mycelium grows like a mustache, mold grows like chest hair/pubes. A pretty good description.

I did hear recently that one of the more trustworthy members here was given a culture they swear looked like mold,  but it grew mushrooms, so you never know i guess. But I personally would try again to find a better looking culture in your case.

Got me some clusters :awedance:

My first time growing this variety (LGT) in a previous batch was straight from syringe to grains (because I was mega-noob), and the batch had few clusters and fruits with relatively skinny stems. I started this new batch on agar, and after a few transfers, I'm amazed at how different the phenotypes are. Chonky bottoms, thick clusters, and some pins are just blobbing out. Genetics is fascinating :mushroom2:

At least it burns alright in the outdoor firepit.
Blah blah I know spawn but it jacks me off with a sandpaper glove that it happened on the one Pastytub without MP and right beside the bottom intake hole.

From what I’ve seen of your spawn it’s sadly not surprising. Yellow green is a bad colour, makes me think Aspergillus flavus. Work on the spawn man, the rest will come I promise.

Yeah I mentioned in that shitshow thread two days ago Aspergillus flavus was what was all over those 40+ tubs in the basement when I got out of the hospital.

These were jars not the bags. Don't know how I could be fucking up jars after a few hundred monotubs worth this year but it's on the agenda to address. I've put the different LC to agar across a few plates a piece to look at those since I haven't checked it lately. I've got un-inoculated jars sitting around from late September and they've got nothing growing in them so somewhere in here I'm introducing contamination into my spawn. I could have just been getting so damn lucky with beading felt filters that I've since lost the lottery. I've moved over to 3 layers of MP until my SFD material gets here and I'm revisiting bags now.

Unless aspergillus can hide interwined with myc on plates and my bugshit eyes can't see it. Just never had a plate go green like this. I'm letting the drawbridge down somewhere though.

Edit: Hey fuck A. flavus is toxic as fuck. Booooo.

Pastybuckets! There's something very visually pleasing about that setup... round buckets, round holes, fat round caps... great stuff, Josex.
