we'll see; hopefully you're right; we can't make progress if we can't flesh out our problems; canceling problems like we have been has been like disabling the check engine light hoping that will fix the problem; lol

Same. Voted third party for the presidential ticket, but contenders have been weak for well over a decade now.

yeah we need a populist to run 3rd party to help the idea break through; someone like Joe Rogan, or Elon Musk, or Kanye West, hell I'd even vote for Ice Cube. Then maybe once it's been proven possible we could get more legit candidates

I get what you're saying, but I think part of the problem is people look to celebrities with no experience or in any real position to be executive administrators as potential candidates because they are merely attracted to their personalities, and any momentum they might have ceases as soon as the fake hype wears off and they redirect focus elsewhere.
Other than Elon Musk, none of those people really have any reason to be voted in other than as a symbol of dissatisfaction, and that just turns any potential run into a novelty and circus attraction rather than any substantive movement to change policy.
The desire among people for popular media personalities to fill third party gaps is as much a distraction as anything else in the grand scheme of things.

Agreed. But I think we might have to sacrifice the legitimacy of the first official independent/3rd party candidate in order to boost the alternative option as a possibility in the minds of the masses
Musk 2024?

other than that, trump has the backing of pretty much the entire military and the police

For some of the same reasons, he also has no reason to not be openly corrupt and/or break laws and traditions to steal a 'win'. He's in a position where he simply cannot lose, despite whatever story the votes tell.
The parties have turned into cults, the red cult has just about completed their authoritarian power grab.
I think the support of the military and police is greatly overstated - if there is clear electoral fraud/power grab after a 5-7% popular vote loss and he refuses to rescind I would expect mass mobs of people & tanks rolling up to the white house and not in support of Trump.
They can attempt to cling to power with their positions of authority - but I don't think that they will receive as strong backing from the real hoomans of the country as they think.

sounds like a good movie; i don't see it happening. the opponents of trump (as far as the masses go) despise the police and the military; and vice versa.

That's not at all true on a core level - the Democrats are just as intertwined with the military-industrial complex as the republicans - but the veneer makes that non-apparent to people without much of an understanding of geopolitics. The clintons made hundreds of millions of dollars to arms sales through their 'charitable foundation' and supported many military actions through her posting as sec of state

You do understand what happens if there are three or more competitive candidates in a presidential election? Nobody gets 270 votes and the election results are void. The House of Representatives then picks who gets to be president.

Oh I agree with you 100% the leadership of the military (the top generals) are all aligned with the Democrates (because they want more war) Trump is a semi-third-party candidate and is semi against war; but the "patriots" in the military and the police, who have witnessed the corruption within their departments are more aligned with Trump. i just hope Trump doesn't use them to go Kim Jung Un on us. LOL

Would they need 270 votes? it's not based on who ever gets more?

I'm actually in favor of control cutting the federally owned forests to mitigate forest fire risk while retaining park integrity.

Just voted. It seems like every time I do this I'm a little bit more disappointed in who I have to choose from. I also don't feel like I'm really accomplishing anything.
