    #26991995 - 10/18/20 08:33 PM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Habitat:
Where does it grow? Mountainside woodlands, mixed hardwoods & pines about halfway between Atlanta & Chattanooga

Gills:
Tobacco brown, seemed attached & close, but stem snapped off cleanly

Stem: 1” and under, thick at about 1/4” Solid Bulbous at base if missing veil. Stems bruised purple when squeezed. Stem perimeter bruised purple/lavender sheen when snapped. Center of stem remained buff

Cap: up to 1”  buff colored. White/buff meat.

Spore print color:
Tobacco brown

Bruising:
Lavender to purple sheen on stem

Other information:
Smells like mushrooms bought at grocery store

Thank you. That was my first guess but the meat wasn’t tan, so I veered away from that. But, definitely in the cortinarius family, right? They’re so pretty. I found others a week or two ago that were truly capped with a lavendar shade. Just gorgeous!
