Doing the best I can with knowing nothing

First, I know nothing about cacti care yet I am babysitting some. I am usually a person who just listens to my plants, this works well with herbs and such, but cacti prove to be a bit different and require actual knowledge. I can be impatient with the internet and using it for research. I will look things up when I have time but often don't know what question to ask. I figure I will sit aside my embarrassment and ask the kind folks here for thoughts.
So during the hot season they did seem a little parched, I gave them some water. And then I asked Google about watering and it said once a week. I didn't believe Google, there are too many species I am dealing with and it can't be that simple. So I made assumptions and some seem to be quite happy, some just making it and others are screaming at me that I am a fool. The ones screaming are tall, maybe star shaped and have grafting or offshoots and have what I suspect to be fungus. It is golden brown spots, one has a mass. I mixed the fungus potion I found in a cabinet, yet I just put a little on because I was scared of killing the cacti. The potion is called Copper Fungicide. I followed the directions for a gallon and put some in a spray bottle.
I am not tech savvy and still learning how to use this forum as I never got on much till now so I am ignorant of how to post a photo.
I read that if the fungus is out of control it might be too late. Should I remove the grafts or offshoots before the fungus moves further up? If so, I should use a sterile blade and then should I do something to the area where the cut is made? Should I keep treating with blue potion? Suggestions? Please be gentle I am fragile.

Well I heard the best thing to do is nothing, that they like neglect, so I will do that until I get some pictures. I think pictures are important for verification of the problem. This is quite the learning experience, I mean, having to identify what the cacti is yada yada and such. Like Queen of the Night is an orchid cactus I did not know that! But anyway, I will get pictures and come back. Thanks

You really need to include pictures to get advice. Cacti can be so different depending on what cacti it is. And 99% of cacti should not be watered every week.

Thanks everyone! I will get some pictures this weekend. Supposedly it is going to snow this weekend. I am trying to get them inside, at least as many as I can. Some are as tall as me and those might need to stay in the greenhouse. Maybe I should pick up an extra heater? That just seems like a “yes”. At least try and keep the greenhouse at a level 50-60 degrees.
