That's just a whitewash political judgement bodhisatta, it's never so simple. Saying people who believe in collectivism are stupid is clearly a political view in itself. It also goes on to say that people who believe that they are free to do whatever they like with their own bodies aren't racist, which doesn't make sense.
I've done this sort of thing before and invariably end up in the upper centre of the lower left quadrant. Every time what puts me there according to these tests is that I don't think companies should be free to set fire to the planet and run destructive and deceptive monopolies for profits for shareholders. This view that I strongly believe always puts me much further left and much further towards the top in a simplistic scale than I actually sit philosophically.
I have voted both left and right during my life, just trying to keep in check whoever is out of control. Avoiding things you don't want in politics often delivers what you do want. All spectrums of the political sphere can become dangerous and detrimental to society, and given enough time to feel secure in their position often do.

You know I actually really like this test. It has really good questions that challenge what authority is and wether its truly useful in situations towards people. If it is useful it needs to be justified why without intruding on race or beliefs simply because of a class difference or a place you were born. Hardcore extremists in the left or right category often justify messed up actions of the politicians they represent as an excuse to combat the other side of politics they do not agree with. Yet being more fundamentally right sided or left in terms of an economic approach to society to wether the abilities and needs of people in general or of the individual are considered should not be a big deal as long as freedom of belief, religion, race, and a right to keep what you earn at work are considered. In short: we need rules, but rights are first and foremost and to each their own always.
Democracy is not a balanced system without its class and racial separations and us being "the least messed up nation in the world" does not make us the best nation in a balanced way in any way shape and form. Competition surely brings a higher standard to life in some form or another if its practiced in a healthy way. But ultimate competition being first and foremost always is not healthy or fair to anyone. Even if we prove by being the most competitive nation we are the most wealthy.
The only thing about this test I do not like is that it does not really allow anyone to post the results of the questions they answered. It simply shows the results the person has after answering all the questions. There should be an option to post the questions asked and the answers each person gives so it can be discussed why as it touches on a broad group of issues.
I like how a simple set of maybe 60 questions can really make a person think about what their beliefs are and how they truly feel about society of course.

Not that Democrats possess more intelligence than Republicans but that conservatism is negatively correlated with cognitive ability: Link
Those who cannot function without direction/instructions are overwhelmingly going to turn to traditional values and institutions. It's not that these things are stupid, only that incapable/stupid people are more inclined to flock to them. There are certainly many very intelligent people who stick to them simply because they're proven, that's an intelligent and rational decision to make.

I'd say I expected this result, although the simplicity of the questions does mean these results don't necessarily show where people fall in terms of actual policies they support, but for me this does demonstrate my core principles. I do think we need a state, however anti-authoritarian I supposedly am, although I'd consider it a necessary evil rather than an ideal to be worshiped

I found some tests that i think are a little more accurate if anyone is interested. (i haven't tried them all out yet)

8VALUES https://8values.github.io/ POLITICAL COMPASS https://www.politicalcompass.org/test POLITISCALES https://www.politiscales.net POLITICAL SEXTANT http://politicalsextant.com/quiz/ SPEKR http://spekr.org ISIDEWITH https://www.isidewith.com/
while i was taking one of these tests it occurred to me that none of this will work. all the way left on the spectrum (what i believe is total government) will be abused and the people will be enslaved, all the way right (a completely free capitalist market) will be the same if not worse than total government. as long as we have this system there will be suffering and slavery in the long run. ( i probably don't understand properly what extreme left and right actually mean)
i believe the only way out of this is if everyone practiced natural law and used force to stop anyone when someone violates your natural rights

the left/right dichotomy is imo disingenuous and often abused for political ends. If we're talking about political ideology lucidly (not the habit of media especially american media) then the idea that left: government and right: no government isn't accurate.
You can have an authoritarian state that could be called 'left' and you could have an authoritarian state called 'right', because there are other metrics involved.
It's a confusing issue because it's so shrouded by propaganda and pundits displaying shallow engagement with actual roots of ideology.
In short, you could be a hardcore leftist who is NOT in favor of an authoritarian government, just as you could be a hardcore reactionary (right) who supports total government control. It's a lot more complicated than is often suggested by the left/right dichotomy

I mean, you're a moderator of a mushroom website, how could you support them potentially making it too hot for mushrooms to grow outside at all? Besides that. coffee, bananas and many other plants are today threatened with extinction due to man made climate change.

That only happens if they have time to evolve. Not many plants are heat tolerant, that's why hot areas are typically deserts. We'd probably have more plants in an ice age... NZ actually has some crazy plants that survive in freezing temperatures. But, we're talking about heating which also requires more water which is also highly limited and commercialized

only over a long time frame, if you heat the ocean up too quickly you don't get increased biodiversity you get a mass die-off. The problem is that the changes occurring are happening quickly, while evolution works slowly, far too slowly to balance it.

that's true, in my understanding the problem isn't that we're about to end life as we know it, but that we have fucked things up for what will likely be the rest of our civilization, worsening quality of life for generations of humans. Millions of years from now it will be moot, sure, but I don't really care about any perspective but the human one

I know you don't care about humans, it's very endearing.
I disagree that we can blame all humans for whats happened, the blame should fall squarely on the wealthy, governments and corporations. Everyone else is some form of victim in this shitshow.
I can only hope some of the assholes get cannibalized eventually, but I know that's too much to ask for.

babies aren't the problem, corporate interference in science and in government is the problem. The world does not have a population problem, it has a wealth disparity problem, with the wealthiest entities not only using far more resources than they need, but also actively sabotaging any chance of addressing both the injustice perpetrated by them, and the side effects of their indiscretions.
to blame people for having babies, whether a flippant joke or not, shows a disengagement with reality that I can empathize with, sure, but its not a sound argument.

You're not wrong, but all of those problems come down to one simple truth: The world cannot support the current population living a first world lifestyle.
More direct to your point, the average Americans are those "wealthiest entities. . . using far more resources than they need." If everyone in the world had the same standard of living, it would be far lower than our poor enjoy. There are only a few solutions:
1. Technology that more efficiently uses resources (primarily energy) by several orders of magnitude greater than we have today. 2. Reduction in population 3. Reduction in standard of living for first world inhabitants.
That's pretty much it. The first one is obviously optimum, if we can pull it off, but 2 and 3 are both doable and require humans to act against their fundamental natures.

Ok we mostly agree then. Personally I think we can limit consumption and be quite happy, but it doesn't help that we've all been encouraged to want as much material wealth as possible.
I also agree with a gradual reduction in population, which does eventually follow increased economic and social stability, barring insane religious dogma that we will have to phase out somehow

Right on, except for point 3, (unless you're meaning the excesses of the top 1%). I think point 2 has taken care of itself. Hans Rosling did an excellent doco on this.

Political compass test is very flawed
It equates things that should not be equated. such as how you view certain social issues will effect your libertarian/authoritarian or left/right ranking but that view may have nothing to do with policy preferences as is the case with me being a hard-core libertarian with some of my own conservative social views that have nothing to do with my policy preferences.
it also seems to consider racism and hatred to be a right winged thing so the fact that I'm not racist makes it put me not as far to the right which is stupid.
many questions are clearly worded to favour the left
and many questions I cant honestly answer because the real answer would be "neither" or something similar but it frames the question in such a dishonest and leading way.
I still end up in the right libertarian quadrant but I should be way more libertarian and way more right.

I remember taking my first one of these under a little pop-up tent at the first lollapaloosa. It may have had something to do with me dabbling in libertarianism for a few years. Fortunately, exposure to other libertarians on this site quickly cured me of that ailment.

The reality is that if you are an active member on a site that promotes cultivation and use of a substance deemed illegal by the government you pretty much are already leaning libertarian in classical political terms.
I think these tests haven't yet been updated to reflect the growing group of big government liberals who have come of age with legal cannabis and expect the government to continue to legalize or decriminalize the substances. I think many of the people like you, baby hitler, fall into this bucket and that is why you reject the libertarian result. Maybe a more modern test would put you in a top left favoring total government control with legal drugs.
