You could let them go on their own but shake away.

Update 18/10:

Hey guys, updating here, How does these look? Are they ready to spawn? I think they look kind of bacterial, there are some wet spots on a few grains each jar, but i don't know. What do you guys think? THere's one missing lol, the other one it's coming slow compared to these 3, but on the way i guess.

I think I still see several partially (at least) uncolonized grains in each jar. Hard to tell if there's whispy myc on them or not. I always wait until every visible grain is fully encapsulated in mycelium to spawn. Literally 100% visible colonization.

As for the wet spots, could just be condensation between the grain and the jar wall. I've spawned countless jars with a few grains like that with no ill effects. It's when I get an entire section of wet looking, uncolonized grains, I spawn those jars to a garbage bag and toss them.

If these were inoculated with a spore syringe, then there is almost unequivocally some level of bacteria preset. Most of the time if you get to 100% colonization with a syringe-inoculated jar, the population of bacteria isn't enough to cause problems. I would wait until every grain is 100% covered. If colonization stalls, you can safely assume that those uncolonized grains are contaminated in this case IMO.

All it takes is a mold spore landing on a piece of uncolonized grain during spawning and it could fuck your project.:frown:

What substrate do you plan to spawn to?

Hey! Okay, gonna wait till tomorrow to see if it colonizes the remainder of those grains. Yeah there are like a couple of them who show a little moisture pressed against the glass. These were inocced with an agar wedge.

I plan to do Bod's bucket tek with only coir and spawning to shoeboxes, 1 for each quart of spawn with 2 quarts of coir.

Thanks for the input!

Good decision going the agar route, takes some variables off the table. If you're following any of Bod's teks then you're headed in a good direction.

Good luck with the shoeboxes, I'll be expecting some updates!
