Very chuffed with my hunting and haul this year, previous years I've never found more than a dose or twos worth. Got enough for the year now! Peak District, circa 400m. Keep searching people, they're there if you persist.

Thanks Longjohn, great to hear that it's helping you

I'm probably in a similar situation, just wanting to dip my toe in the pool at first and see if it helps me at all.

I've been reading about the potential benefits for the last 6 years, it's really fascinating. I've decided to finally give it a try myself. I've been on a couple of waiting lists for the last couple of years for those clinical psilocybin trials in London, but that is a very long process with no guarantees of ever being selected anyway. Also since lockdown, it has all been put on hold.

I have a field near Croydon that produced quite a few libs in 2018. Didn't go picking in 2019. This year I went yesterday expecting loads. I didn't even find a single liberty cap.

Other LBMs were there though and the grass looked perfect. The weather was good too. Around 13°C max and 7°C min for about a week with loads of rain too.

Is it not yet time around London?? I am just so perplexed. 🤔

In my experience, once you really rinse a spot clean out they don't grow back and other mushrooms take over. I know people will argue against this saying that's not how it works, but for every field I know from the past (10+), if it got cleaned out then the next year its more or less dead.Again, I'm not saying its a fact, just what I've experienced.

Hi Hadus

I found a few in the Kent / Greater London area 2 days ago, so hopefully you should be good now.

Found a new field this week that appears as of yet untouched, despite being incredibly convenient . Best haul so far.

A few mushrooms of note that I'd be interested in more experienced opinion on:

The "red 1" - Is this a "sterile lib" that I've seen mentioned elsewhere on the forum? It was the same colour all over, including spores.

The big ones in the blue highlighted area - Has anyone else seen libs like these which are flared at the bottom rather than bell shaped? There was a large number of various species on this field but I'm certain they're libs as the colour, texture, smell etc only matched the definite libs, nothing at all like any of the non-actives present. They seemed quite old and dry so wondering if they can age like this.

First time out foraging with the girlfriend and she has an eye for them. Not sure how many are liberty caps but would appreciate some clarification on whether these are good to eat.

Found amongst spongey grass scattered between thick grass in fields with cows in just by the Peak District. This was just after an hour of walking. Any questions feel free to inbox me.

Please tell me these are good to eat 🥴

Hi Sid Shroom,
I’ve had no luck this weekend in South Kent. Possibly a bit warm but maybe I’m just not looking hard enough. We must have seen up to 10 different species of mushrooms in one field but nothing with the really pointy top and bell shaped cap.

Thanks for the tip about the well known deer park in Kent - we may try there next weekend if the weather is ok, we need some good rain this week!

Have you had any more success?

Hey everyone, they are literally carpeting the floor in the midlands at the minute.

You’ve might have one or two, can’t really tell from the pic, but I can tell you most of those are not libs

Im guessing the stems aren't white.. I'm new to identifying Libs, only familiar with subaeruginosa

Think this is one but unsure as the gills are a bit lighter than the others and the cap is quite light almost whitish
