So I had a batch of other muscarias that a TI had already given me a positive for, from photos in another thread yesterday (Which was mostly for a gymnopilus ID). Went back for 'em today, to find some kids had kicked 'em around and tore 'em up (Its OK, kids will kids, I used to do the same thing lol). They were growing next to a sidewalk, underneath a hemlock.
Only one left in good shape was this little guy; Just want to confirm this specific mushroom is also a positive ID:

The original pics from yesterday:

That tiny one on the left is the one I picked above; I had almost forgotten about it, today it was hidden beneath the opening cap of the big one.

No problem. For future reference, var. formosa is (to my knowledge) exclusive to Europe and Asia, while var. guessowii is the yellow variety found in the Americas

Noted. I see there is some strange taxonomy confusion over this one too. I read that some mycologists incorrectly refer to amanita guessowii as var Formosa and vise versa. That was where my confusion happened. Glad to have awesome guys like you to help clear these things up!

Went back for the gnarly ones today; brought them to an area that's a little special to me, but more importantly has what I think are appropriate trees (Eastern red cedars, with some river birches not too far away), and minced 'em up and buried them near some roots. I know it's a real long shot, but figured, "What the hell?" Guess I'll see in about a year or two.
