New to the forums and the hobby and im stuck.
    #26988202 - 10/16/20 10:42 AM (3 years, 3 months ago)

So im stuck with my pins shriveling up and turning brown, i just had to cookie cutter and peroxide out a spot of trick in the middle of my cake which is over a month old. This was my first sign of contam but the heads on my boys look kinda sad. Ive been searching and not finding pictures like mine. Im not sure if i can even post a picture from my cell but i have a pic on imgbb or whatever tf. If theres one attached i did it if not it will be in a link. If im in the wrong spot my B, but i really dont know if the shrivels and dark coloring is from too dry of a cake or contams creeping. My pins seemed to have stopped growing for the most part as well. I learned why some layed down but now im stuck wondering whether i can save it or not.

Welcome to Shroomery!

You mentioned cakes in your original post so I thought you were talking about PF Tek.

Your substrate looks incredible dry.

Ditch the peroxide. Ditch the cookie cutter. Pins that shrivel and have dark caps usually mean too much misting, but those from the picture look like aborts. Just mist when the cake looks kinda dry. Aborts are very common and are more potent by weight then mature shrooms. It also looks like those shrooms have been kept in the dark. If you don't feel like buying a fancy light, ambient sunlight from the window will work just fine. Make a spore print from the mature shrooms. Make as many spore prints as you can so you have a collection to fall back on. Always have new jars going so you can something going on constantly.

Welcome to the Shroomery! :irishtoast:

Im not sure what to call my tek, i know its a monotub and i did corntek for grain and i mixed 1pt verm,2pt coco 1 part alfalfa finely ground, 2 parts cow manure.
I was also under the impression that it was super dry. I think i went too lightly on moisture in the beginning when i brought it to field capacity. Its just a bit different with all the stuff i mixed in. Is there a way to rehydrate it now before my next flush? Thank you

The cookie cutter was to pull out a big plug of trich, it actually seems like it my heal nicely, i used the peroxide to clean the wound to make sure if i missed any along the edges it would help. Then i lysoled with a wet nap around the wound. I saved a pan c. Cake like that kind of. Its chopped up in the other room because it keeps contamming.
I just started a 12/12 cycle of full spectrum daylight and then a blue light through the night because i learned that i needed more light, i gotta figure out how to post pics. But i 100% want to make spore prints, thats actually an exciting part for me. I appreciate the info. Im trying to get successive grows going but my issue is that i suck at pasteurizing and i have to in order to use the sub im using.

I know its kind of hard to tell from this side but it was infected all the way through with trich. The other side was fluffy and green and there was the slightest tinge of green forming on the bottom. Hence the cookie cutter and stuff.

Meaning you didn't save it. There is no saving a triched-out substrate.

Then use a tek that doesn't need it.

That puts you in uncharted territory. Around here you'll see lots of recommendation to use a known tek. The reason is that it's devised by an experienced cultivator, has a high chance of success for most, and a low chance of failure.

Stop using peroxide. Stop using Lysol. Stop trying to cut out the mold. Get rid of the contaminated subs. Don't shoot spores onto grain if that's what you're doing. Start using a simpler tek. Work on your sterile technique.

???

Profit.

True true. I see what your saying. My issue with using a different tek is that i need to use manure and some kind of straw for pan cyans and liberty caps and those are my main goal. The cubes are more practice until i get the jist and then im sticking with pans or Liberty caps. I did use MSS to grain the first time but now im growing out on agar first but i have weird wormy lines that look like something non bacterial on the surface. I cant post a link to a lic rn but i can shortly.

This is what keeps happening to all of my MSS to agar. My PC died so im stuck atm on making more agar and trying more syringes. I have b+ and GT still in MSS but I don't know how tf this keeps happening.
