First time growing via a kit, I think I have a surface humidity problem
    #26987930 - 10/16/20 04:43 AM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Hello 👋

I recently got a kit via a friend making an order for himself 🍄. It's supposedly a "maintenance free" kit where you don't even need to spray water. Since I had never ever grown shroom I took the opportunity to try it.

My friend got a first batch already, while mine is still slowly growing.

Currently I'm 5 days after the first pins started to show up.

After a lot of reading in the forum, I think that I don't have enough surface humidity and that it is impeding the growth of the mushroom.

Here are some pictures:

⬆️ It may not be super clear in the picture but there is some blueish marking on top of the mycelium at the left of the very center of the box. Either bruising by contact (not me), or lack of humidity from what I have read elsewhere in the forum.

The fact that I still got a lot of pins on the side of the box is my main clue to thinking that I got a surface humidity problem. In this enclosed space, there is a lot of humidity and pins are striving.

So, am I correct to think that I should up the humidity in the bag?
Any other advice or feedback is, of course, welcome 😊

I mean at first I wasnt sure if those were droplets or primordia (stage before a pin) but seems to be the second. So yeah, you do wanna have many small water droplets on there so upping the humidity and spraying would be good, yeah. Honestly if your bag isnt super open (which it shouldnt be) it should be good for a while after youve reached the proper moisture. Should be no need to constantly be spraying.

Yeah, the surface is covered in primordia.

Cool, I'll try to up the humidity, and I'll try to be sure to stop when needed 😅

Thank you very much for your help 🙏
