Choice Reading 1

Over the years my to-read list has grown much faster than the list written works I have read. Usually my mood helps me easily determine what I will read next, but this time it isn't easy. I'm currently finishing Mona Lisa Overdrive by William Gibson, the 3rd book in a trilogy. I like sci-fi a lot but it isn't the only thing I read, and I am in the middle of Aldous Huxley's The Perennial Philosophy as well, though I have been supplementing that work with works Huxley cites so it's a slow read at this time. I have a lot of works available that are very well reviewed and I can't decide, so I thought I would post a poll on what to read next. Here is what I have on deck:

Mountains of Madness won’t take you longer than an afternoon.

At least three of the books in the poll shouldn't be considered long and I can read quite fast. However, I take time to digest what I read by taking a long period of consideration and just generally thinking about both the subject matter and what I experienced while and after reading it.
So the length of what I read next doesn't factor much into my decision.
You are a fan of Lovecraft, based on posts I remember reading from you. I mentioned I like sci-fi, but I actually haven't read Lovecraft, an author that made such an immense impact in the genre. I am a Lovecraft virgin, woo me. I actually borrowed this Lovecraft book from a dear friend who founded a religion/social group based on cthulu lol

Yeah Lovecraft has some really good writings. The more you read the more you see references to other stories of his.

Big fan.
As a first time reader I might start out with something a little less heady, as great as mountains of Madness is. I listed out some more approachable stories of Lovecraft’s below because Mountains of Madness is pretty much just a huge lore bomb he throws at you.
Dagon The Temple The White Ship The Shadow over Innsmouth The Call of Cthulhu The Color out of Space The Dunwich Horror The Shadow out of Time

I believe my friend has all of Lovecraft's work so it shouldn't be hard to acquire any of those. I'll go trade for some tonight
So far Joseph Campbell has the most votes
