I'm a keen forager but never picked libs before, not for lack of trying lol
This is what I've found today outside rickmansworth. Is there any libs in these photos?
Photo 1 larger are from a meadow, small ones from a sheeps pasture.
Photo 2 are all from around the same place which is the outer edge of a mixed wood before a cultivated field. They look a bit tall and large to be libs?
Photo 3 are from inside the woods, a bunch of three with orange stem!?
some other photos of the ones from the woods
I am going to carefully try some anyway, so any advise is appreciated
Can you actually find libs inside the woods, not on grass?
Are they always in open spaces or can they be near or under bushes?
When I read about dosages in grams, are these normally referring to dry or fresh mushys? Clearly the difference is huge, I want to get it right

Can’t see any pics but do NOT “carefully try some anyway” some mushrooms are poisonous! You cannot find them in the woods, pastures is better I know the Ricky area go as high as you can in the Chiltern hills and you might find a few if you’re very lucky but few and far between.
thanks stone, I'm dubious on the ones from woods too. The photos are in the zip file attached, I couldnt figure out how to post them directly in the post.

Some cracking finds there Shroomdogs!! I’ve got a total haul of 3 so far this season, still very warm here right on the south coast, Dorset/Devon border. Will keep searching as last year was the worst season in many for lack of finds and can’t have a repeat of that. I think I may have to skip work tomorrow, put some Floyd on and head up to the moors and try and find a decent spot.

Don't eat anything you are unsure of, its just retarded and a good way to get liver failure....
Also please upload your pics to the shroomery, nobody will risk downloading a random pdf, but if you take the time to post your pics on the site you will get plenty of help identifying what you have found.
Good luck, and again please don't eat random fungi.

First and third pic definitely not, second pic probably not. Look at the pic I posted of my finds today, that’ll give you a fair idea

Yo!
I’m picking for the first time this year and I think I may have found some yummies.
Could anyone please help me ID these? I’m fairly confident on the first pics but the others I found growing right next to a patch of the libs, no idea what they are but they have crazy bluish bruising.
Thanks a bunch!

Your first pics are libs
2nd look to be Stropharia caerulea, they are naturally blue coloured as opposed to bruising blue from oxidising psilocybin. They are not active, still a cool mushroom to find and interesting looking.
Nice finds man.

Hello, can anyone help me as I have dried a batch of libs and almost all of them have gone very dark despite being cracker dry. I have been picking liberty caps for 3 years and this has never happened to me apart from the odd one that looks rotten, however these don’t and have kept shape well. Anyone know if these are still okay to consume or why it has happened. Thanks
Edit: The white fuzz isnt mold, it just comes of the toilet paper when i dry. Happens every time.

Can it still be too early for libs. I went to my usual spot and only found 5 libs. The temperature today where I am is 11c.

Yeah the season is still in its infancy, should be in full swing the next week or so and hopefully get 6-8 more weeks of it if lucky. 4 if its a short season.
Any pics of the blackened libs bigshroom?

I went to a few different fields today and it was slim pickings. One area I'd been to before so I'm confident they're all magic - maybe one or two look odd:

Second area though were choc full of other types of mush, so I lost my confidence a bit:

All good?

Please can peeps say whereabouts they are when they're sharing about nice finds?
Our best find was mid September, North East - right out in the sticks on a South facing hill that was a sheep field. There were sheep skulls, dry stone walling and it was right in front of the heath. It was carpeted!
The other best find was in a cow's field closer to Hadrian's wall at lower altitude and nearer the city. Although be careful of the cows: they can suddenly charge you without warning even if you stay far out of their way. I don't think I'll be mooching in cow fields again.
