Finally found a good spot... after weeks of searching I've found a goldmine of shrooms in cornwall!

If anyone needs help hunting down here, I can give a few tips!

Maybe an off topic discussion but here’s an interesting one, I am curious to find what people experiences are with the onset of their trips and time span. Sometimes I feel as if they haven’t been hitting till almost two hours after I have eaten them? Mildly feeling them somewhat before but more recently I haven’t had the full “come up” till an hour or two after ingestion.

Cheers all

The simplest way to confirm without a spore print is to split the cap. As you say P.semiglobata is subviscid (slimy) but it will break very cleanly - whilst P.semilanceata will have a clearly separable gelatinous pellicle (especially when fresh).

Really helpful, thank you. There was another I found that looked lib like and grew in the same area. Not sure what it was, but it was much more 'uniform', with orange gills. It was only growing on the softer, more marshy ground.

If i do a tea it's fast. 45 - 90mins come up, and then it's all over 3 hours or so from then.

Eating can take a very very long time.

Great news chaps, I have found some! Well, not many compared to others on this forum but still, it'll do! Found at a local park, they seemed to have moved since last time. There was more but I always leave some behind to allow them to spread their spores, in the past I didn't do this an have made a spot closer to me less fruitful as a result.

If you eat them I think it has a lot to do with how recently you ate food, they get digested quicker on an empty stomach.

No worries...hmm very, very hard to say given that information - but possibly a Turf Bell (G.graminea) or a Dwarf Bell (G.pumila) or some other common species of Galerina that loves damp moss - did you take any pictures?

Didn't take any pictures, but I think it looked close enough to the Turf Bell

found these earlier today in the north of england, atop of a grassy hill, lots of cow dung around, after a few rainy days, seemingly typical spore print colour between jet black & dark purple, fairly confident they are libs but second opinion is always preferred, please ask to see specific specimens if unsure about identification & I'll provide more pictures - http://imgur.com/gallery/Cy6B89A

stumbled across a field yesterday with libs, some strange elongated ones. Also found a bunch with a huge monster along a path edge that was almost sandy. Still surprises me where you can find them ,

Another Nice find yesterday after Taking a break for about a week. Managed to stumble across a good 200 wet grams dried out too 16 g cracker dry. Been trying too get some bigger fruits again, was surprised too find so many yesterday. I thought we had a flush though as we had a few showers over the past week. Was meaning too go up earlier, I think late October now will see loads as we got a nice bit of rain forecast. Managed too save up 75 dry grams already though which was a lot more than intended. Not sure when too stop now.. xD

Your knowledge, is impressive @fraggle, thank you  @skidog too

Please can peeps say whereabouts they are when they're sharing about nice finds?

I'm still waiting for my first magic find after some weeks of venturing and walking based from down south, but it's been lovely to get out into the elements.

The magic mushroom hotspot map has changed significantly in the last week! Does anyone know what data goes into producing it?

This is entirely correct.

Smaller mushrooms (in general) will contain a higher concentration of alkaloids as a proportion of their weight compared to larger specimens - but larger specimens will contain more overall as a total ammount.

So 1 large mushroom might contain twice as much as 1 tiny specimen - but 1g of tiny mushrooms might contain twice as much as 1g of large specimens.

This is why "how many mushrooms should I eat" is a bit of an odd question - because it really depends on how big they are.

Really it is better to homogenise them and use a weight measure rather than a count of fruits if you want a consistent/more accurate dose.

Went to my spot today and found hardly anything, a handful if that, Only small fresh ones that are hard to see.

Will excessive rain fall have a impact on them growing? I was thinking the amount of rain we've had might of hindered the growth. Or maybe someone got there before me.

I'll maybe wait a few days after the heavy rain fall to go picking

Plenty on Dartmoor this morning, beautiful in the sunshine, wish I could have stayed all day. I munched the first dozen which I’m convinced helps me find them!

Hi All,

I'm a keen forager but never picked libs before, not for lack of trying lol

This is what I've found today outside rickmansworth.
Is there any libs in these photos?

Photo 1 larger are from a meadow, small ones from a sheeps pasture.

Photo 2 are all from around the same place which is the outer edge of a mixed wood before a cultivated field. They look a bit tall and large to be libs?

Photo 3 are from inside the woods, a bunch of three with orange stem!?

some other photos of the ones from the woods

I am going to carefully try some anyway, so any advise is appreciated

Can you actually find libs inside the woods, not on grass?

Are they always in open spaces or can they be near or under bushes?

When I read about dosages in grams, are these normally referring to dry or fresh mushys? Clearly the difference is huge, I want to get it right

photos in zipped folder attached

Can’t see any pics but do NOT “carefully try some anyway” some mushrooms are poisonous! You cannot find them in the woods, pastures is better I know the Ricky area go as high as you can in the Chiltern hills and you might find a few if you’re very lucky but few and far between.
