Lions Mane agar?

I have these two agar dishes that I injected with Lions Mane culture 2 weeks ago. Do they look good? If so what is the best way to inoculate grain with this?

First pic is out of focus, can't make out details.
The second pic , I'm not sure is lions mane. Lions mane ( erinaceus) makes clumps not spikes. To me that could be oyster trying to fruit?

It is from a syringe that I purchased that says Lions Mane. I have done Pink Oyster before and it does have some similarity to this. In he morning I will upload a better picture.

First picture I am sure it's LM, I have it the same. Second pic I am with Quadman, looks like oysters want to pin.

What they said. That's not erinaceous in the 2nd pic.

Both are from same syringe injected at the same time.
Here is a better picture of the one that was blurry. (Still not great pic but best I can seem to get.)

Never have I seen lions mane act like that. I'm not sure what you have. It seems to want to fruit though.

I think it looks like Lion's Mane that's desperately reaching for air.

Hmmm... I guess it's been a while but I didn't remember lion's mane doing that!

I was told that petri dishes do not need AE and even so this has a nice size hole covered with micro-pore tape.

I would take a wedge from where there's the least amount of white. You want mycelium, not fruit.

Why is the mycelium preferred over fruit?
Would you use the mycelium to make liquid culture or put it strait to grain?

Not that a fruit won't work, but we don't usually inoculate grain jars with them. Mycelium is preferred because it's still in "colonizing" mode and that's what you want it to do, colonize the grains.
Also, when there's fruits involved on agar, there's always the chance of a spore or two being present. In which case your growth you get after a transfer could be from spores, which would mess up your culture (by being a different culture). You generally want to avoid that if you like the culture you have.
It's up to you if you want to make LC or not. If I'm going to grow a lot of something I prefer LC so I can inoculate grain in open air with a syringe.

Why is inoculating with LC in open air ok but not agar or spores?

LC would have to be taken up sterile in a syringe. Once in a syringe you can inject into anything provided you follow sterile procedure ( alcohol wipe injection sites, flame needle, etc.)
You have to open and physically remove the agar with scalpel. Then physically open your grain or whatever. This requires flow hood or still airbox and proper techniques.

I digged out an old plate of Lion's Mane from the back of my fridge, and while it's not exactly doing the same thing, I think it's reasonably close. I think OP is fine.

Take note of the rest of your plate compared to OP. His is much thicker mycelium. As I said from the beginning it is possible, but doubtful. Fruit it will tell for sure.

Since I still have most (95%) of the syringe I will inject it to grain and see how it behaves. I don't like putting agar to grain as it takes too long and fails too often for me.
