Munch's Shoebox Method * 17
    #26984354 - 10/14/20 12:28 AM (3 years, 3 months ago)

How I Grow with Shoeboxes
Shoeboxes are great for when you want to fruit just one jar of grains by itself. Over the years, I've tried just about every configuration imaginable. This is by far my favorite way to grow with shoeboxes, as it allows me to set them and forget them. Before this method, I would always have to mist the surfaces to maintain proper conditions. Now I can just wait for knots to show up, and pop the tops and fruit them.

You Will Need:
- monotub (standard or Pasty's EZ Dialed monos, I use the standard holes with micropore tape as a FAE regulator)
- 6 qt plastic tote (we call them shoeboxes cause the Sterlite brand on this container has a picture of women's shoes on it)
- clean spawn jars
- prepped substrate

Process:
- Knock & shake 1 grain jar until the grains are fully broken up
- Add 1.5 quarts of substrate to an empty shoebox, leaving 0.5 quarts to the side
- Add broken up grains to top of substrate
- Mix by hand
- Level the surface by hand and gently tamp it down
- Add remaining 1/2 quart of substrate to top of leveled grains
- Level the top substrate layer with your hand
- Gently tamp the surface down
- Attach lid
- Set 4 shoeboxes in 1 monotub, stack monos as needed
- Let colonize 1-2 weeks with light
- Pop lids off when knots or pins appear and set 2 shoeboxes in each monotub
- Wait for harvest!

Saving for reference, thank you!

If I ever tried the Dialed in tub I'm going to this. Sounds like an easy clean up!

I'm an unmodded tub and shoebox guy myself

A good question here is also whether this is multispore or a strain that performs very well for Munch's growing conditions as he has spent a fair amount of time isolating/cloning it.

There are a ton of variables. Of course if Munch comes back and says it's multispore, well then there ya go, proof this tek is the bomb diggity.

Yes one quart spawn! I couldn't tell you the exact specs of every pic, but I'd say most are MS. I don't do much cloning. Texas Orange Cap MS and Stropharia MS have been my go-to for bulk for years. Canopies are more about providing proper conditions than nailing a gnarly clone, although it can help. And those familiar with my grows know I've been preaching MS for years, this isn't just for this reply. Check the search engine for the number of times I've mentioned MS Stropharia.

Your advocating for Stro and TOC was the inspiration behind me adamantly searching for them on the Marketplace and putting them to agar ASAP. Should be ready to go to grain in the next week or so. I'm ready to see the results:rockon:

I think I have some stro prints laying around. Funny how you don't see many people mentioning that variety.

Great video production bro

Please tell me the amount of grain roughly
that is one Jar here

This is crazy, nobel prize results, from anything resembling 500g of grain,
for me at least. And the amount of kernels makes me disbelieve that this can be from a single jar

I have been fruiting cubes for  a year now, and these results are better than all my MS corn cube grows, with faaaaaaar more spawn than "one jar"
imaginably can be

HEART BREAKING

good work munch, i just feel so lost, seeing this
