Incubator Question
    #2695012 - 05/18/04 04:47 AM (19 years, 9 months ago)

How many of you all have had trouble using the Tub in Tub Incubator? Problem: The heater melting through the plastic because the suction cups wont hold the heater down. I'm thinking about getting some kind of waterproof glue for it, because this is a pretty dangerous problem. :mushroom2:

odd problem. in mine, the water stops the heater getting hot enougth to
melt the plastic, have you had problems with the water drying out or something, and do you have the heater on full?

Nah heater was just on about 80. It's two exactly the same size tupperwares though so theres not much air that can escape. Maybe thats a problem? And the water is full. The problem is the suction cups of the heater somehow manage to pop off and the heater is actually touching the plastic.

Ah, so its touching the plastic, but HAS it melted it?

Mine has no suction cups and doesnt melt anything.

The water carrys the excess heat away.

The only real problem is if it drys out.

Yeah, the suctions cups don't work too well on the plastic. Goto your local hardware store and pick up two clips. They are round, metal clips with a rubber insulator, and you can easily attach them to your incubator bottom using nuts and bolts. They work really well.

Yeah, that was pissing me off. I glued the suction cups to the bottom.

Yea, the clips u want are the ones that are for holding pipes to wood in a basement or something. I was going to get some, but i dont need them cause the suction cups that came with mine are good enough.

I add water about every other day to mine, thats probably a lot more than i need tho, and its fine.

I glued the cups to the bottom with some waterproof glue. If this doesn't work I'll swallow my pride and go to the hardware store.
