Mushrooms from a hunt in NE SC yesterday.
    #26984873 - 10/14/20 10:50 AM (3 years, 3 months ago)

The first ones(Gymnopilus sapineus?) were all over the place on piles of woody debris and slash, they had a gym-like smell and orangish spores.

The next was a larger cluster and a few little buddies right beside the main cluster on a rather steep hill with exposed red clay.

What do y'all think I found?

Fuck yeah, thanks, I thought they might be, but I'm glad to get some confirmation. What do you think about the possible gyms? Never had much experience with sapineus, but the one I took home as a sample seems to have bruised a bit.

The big pin is literally one big blue bruise :laugh2:
For real though, caerulescens don't seem to bruise unless badly damaged or when they start to dry out. Every fresh wet specimen ive collected didnt bruise until they say for sometimes hours.

Thank you! Such an awesome find! I asked because I have found 2 like the short gun metal colored one but they didn’t bruise on the stems so I let them go. I’m still learning. I’ve yet to find any actives, but man, do I find a huge variety in N Ga

Thank you everyone. Does anyone know how active sapineus are compared to aeruginosus, and junonius? I've had good luck with the latter, but there are literally a fuck-ton of the saps where I found those, just wondering if it'd be worth going back for some. :mushroom2:
