Blue bruising and removable pellicle. Possibly Active?
    #26984835 - 10/14/20 10:27 AM (3 years, 3 months ago)

Hello Everyone.

Am interested in these fellas because they were bruising blue straightaway when picked and have a sticky membrane too. I do understand that this is not necessarily a positive indicator of an active shroom but I'm still chasing my first find so hope you guys can help me out :-)

-Habitat
Growing in wild meadow/grassland. Fair amount of thistles around and 10-15ft away from border of field marked by various deciduous trees.  It's possible this has been used as animal pasture in the past but no evidence of fresh poop or grazing as the grass was quite wild but not lengthy.
Several days of drizzle previous but little if any rain today.

-Location
South East England (Essex)

-Cap
Between 3-7cm. Initially white with a central greeny/blue tinge. Transport home has shown lots of blue on the cap. Cap is covered in a viscousy wet sticky substance that approx 1 hr later is now 'peelable' off like a membrane. This membrane is blue, cap underneath is white still.  Removing the mebrane and bruising the cap reveals a blue/grey colour.

Shape is dome shaped on some and convex on others. Smaller ones and bigger ones are both dome shaped and convex so I cannot say with certainty which shape of the cap is older/younger

-Gills
Gills are tan coloured. Attached to Stem.  Moderately closely spaced but not tightly. Alternates between short and long gills as measured from the edge of the cap to the center.

-Stem
Stem is bruising blue all over.  The base is slightly bulbous.  Stem is hollow. Width is approx between 3-8mm. No ring on the stem.

-Spore print
Just got home with these so still pending. Please let me know if required for a positive id

-Scent
Just pleasant mushroomy-ness, nothing of note.

-Bruising
Immediate blue coloration on all the stems when picked.

Other Info - There appeared to be some white 'mould' like substance on them all over ( scales maybe? ) But this disapeared on touching.

Also, I did find another couple of lookey-likes on my travails today. I'm going to post them here rather than clog the forum, please let me know if it's worth making separate posts about them ( I can confirm yes the cubey looky one was found in poo :-) and the other one ( possible cyanecens pretty please maybe? ) was Found in mulchy woody soil near some trees.

Can you tell I'm desparate for my first find lol?

Thanks shroomers!

Awwwwwww maaaaaaaaaaaan  :-( lol

Thanks very much for the info. Thought I'd cracked it this time but nevermind eh. All it cost me was a nice walk in the countryside!

It was actually pretty useful to see the pellicle and blue bruising firsthand for the first time too so it's all a learning experience.

Only another 14996 species to go through now!

haha yeah those blue roundheads are tricksters, beautiful ones i might add. They actually don't bruise blue, rather their flesh is already that color
