I found these growing in grass in a small meadow surrounded by oak, ash, hawthorn. Are these real chanterelles? If so they will be eaten!

The gills don’t look right. I’d say they’re Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca.

It seems I have been fooled - these look like they have proper gills

Yeah, for the sake of comparison this is what you’d want to see;

It’s a real shame they don’t grow in Australia, they’re delicious. :sad:
