prefacing this with: Albino penis envy, spores from sponsor. prepared according to franks 12 steps tek. already used tek before with golden teacher with great results.
i am going to be making some agar dishes with another APE syringe but i wanted to see if theres any hope at all for these jars.
each jar looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/Iiti2SL.jpg does it look ok to any of you?
its been 10 days and none of them have any signs of life. no water pooling at bottom of any of them or anything. does the grain look too dry? i kinda rushed the soak process i only soaked these about 8 hours before simmering, could that have been it? i did let them cool until completely cool to the touch though, and made sure to squirt a couple drops out of the needle in between flames.
the syringe i used was about 5 months old, but was stored sealed in the fridge in a ziploc wrapped in foil, is 5 months too old for a spore syringe?

You went straight spore solution to grain? Well, spores can take a long time to germinate. Up to a month. They also have a high rate of contamination when put straight to grain. Wait for your agar to be ready.

i hear you, what really baffles me though is that i went straight to grain with golden teacher spores and saw first signs of mycelium within the first 7 days. i know spores are spores, and im definitely doing the agar in the meantime but still wanted to check with you guys if i should put any belief in these jars. youre saying up to a month for germination so ill keep waiting on these jars.

thats just random luck
do agar, its lovely
spores _can_ germinate later on, if you have jars to spare, i would give them another week just to be sure
but my stuff that dont have timely growth in 10 days, gets tossed

yeah im going to do what gastronomicus said and also what you said by proxy and just leave them until my agar dishes are done. im so glad i bought 24 quart jars last year, apparently you cant get quart jars anywhere for less than $60 for a 12 pack. ridiculous. and lots of major stores are sold out too

I had recently gotten some APE from a sponsored vendor and a free Burma syringe that done the same thing. I ended up knocking the grains up twice, this second round all but 2 germinated out of 12 jars.
Next time I'm going to try a different vendor as I have not been too happy with anything I have gotten so far. 2 separate orders have been shitty.

yeah i just got back home its been almost 12 days no sign. frustrating. my agar stuff came in but my 2000ml beaker came smashed so agar delayed to next weekend instead. i guess ill give them till next weekend to show signs but at this point it would probably take forever for them to colonize fully if they somehow germinated so i might end up tossing them this weekend and getting the jars clean//polyfill repacked for the next run but with agar inoculation.
lesson learned from this is that its a huge time waster to try and do spore solution straight to grain, even if it did work before.

honestly if you bought spores from a sponsor these spores should be good. there are people on here who are very well versed and all of them say to not even bother putting spores directly on grain. this is something i didnt read until recently of course lol.
