Growing on a live tree in my yard. The small one on top was about the size of a cantaloupe. Any recommendations for eating?

Nice find those look delicious!
My two favorite ways of cooking lions mane is to either shred them up to make "crab" cakes, or I like to slice them really thick, fry in butter, and place a cast iron or something heavy on them while they are cooking to squish them down into a lions mane patty of some sort.
Whatever you do make sure to cook them slow

Man I just fried them up into huge steaks. They were so fucking good. A total weight of 9 pounds wet. I hope they keep in the fridge. I fried them in bacon grease with sea salt and creole seasoning. Tasted like crab meat with a lil kick from the creole. Major yummy find

Was reading about how they're pretty much a super food. Antioxidants and stuff. And they actually treat depression?

You can also dehydrate them, grind them into powder, and put them in capsules mixed with an active mushroom species, and you have a nice little microdose blend going.
