What do you think? Mycelium or contam? This is on corn as an experiment

That's what I am thinking as well. I tried to transfer a bit to agar as well as LC but I'm not super hopeful about it

bacterial contamination. i know this because of the extra long stringy mycelial growth near the top of the jar, the thin growth in some areas, and the clear sticky stuff where the grain is touching the glass.
i would toss that jar unless i was really desperate to harvest a few grams. if you do insist on spawning it, only go for 1 flush and keep a close eye on it for anything unusual colors (green or thick dense white that appears suddenly).

Totally - I know. I've used rye for years but I live in a place where it's unavailable now. Which is frustrating. I can find millet so I'm playing with that for the first time

but since the problem here is definitely bacteria, they can ride along and possible hide themselves on your agar dish
id fruit this separate, but if this is only normal cube mycelium on corn, i wouldnt bother with cleaning up on agar if you have other mycelium to use

Oats ftw! Oats are everywhere! Feed and seed, tractor supply, select walmarts. Just boil and pc!
