Thanks man. And as far as the aborts question? Also storing dry fruits in a ziplock bag in a dark place, is this fine?

I’d try and get as many aborts as possible but leaving some shouldn’t be a problem.. even the black ones will just be retaken over by myc (they’ll get all fuzzy).
As far as storage goes... in a baggie is ok, but they’re nowhere near air right and exposure to oxygen is a big degrader of the magic over time. My favorite method is vacuum sealing but if you don’t have that option, putting them (after cracker dry—24 hours in a dehydrator) into a canning jar with an airtight lid and a desiccant pack works really well too. Year+ with those methods

Man I absolutely hate it when they grow all uneven like that. Always makes harvesting a pain. I find the first flush or two are usually pretty even and after that they just grow all willy nilly.

I put them cracker dry inside some half-pint mason jars since I can't find any other size at the store currently. It's like the pandemic hit and everybody started growing shrooms lol. I don't have desiccant packs in there with them yet but I can get some I'm sure.

what on earth is going on there
It looks like the mushrooms are acting as a barrier between the colonized and uncolonized substrate haha

First flush still doesn't seem finished. I've harvested a lot but it looks as if the last ones left have started to stall in growth and they aren't finished yet. some are rather small and one or 2 are average size. What's going on here? Any advice? Should I just pick the rest and prep for 2nd flush?

Yeah if they’re stalling out, I’d just pick em and set up for the next flush

It's an assumption, but it looks like they picked a few clusters from the right side and left a huge crater so they patched it with substrate. Freaked me out, too.

I took 3.5g of these last night to test them out.
Definitely not as strong as I was hoping, although I've never had some insanely potent GT strain before, so I'd say they're average potency. Just wish it didn't take me so much weight to get a nice heavy trip off of mushrooms. Visuals are what I typically like most, but unless it's not a cube, it won't cause many visuals for me if any at all aside from trails.
I'm also keeping in my I just had a 240ug LSD trip about 6 days ago lol so I know that's got something to do with it. Regardless though, unless they're PE's, generally, it takes upwards of 6 or 7 grams for me to start seeing colors or any kind of fractal. Really wish this wasn't the case...I've tried the whole lemon tek thing before too but that didn't help much.
I mainly just want these things to stay potent enough in the mason jars over the next few months so they're grabbable at any time. Still don't have any desiccant packets yet. Hoping to get some soon.
It would be really interesting to somehow make a liquid extract of psilocybin, like a tincture.

You can make tea and then freeze it.. that’ll preserve potency and it doesn’t have to be a lot of liquid.. you can reduce it down to a pretty potent couple shots or Ice cubes

So just take the dose you want and make that into a tea you're saying? Whatever dose?

Yeah so let’s say you have 12 cubes in an ice tray and you want each to have ~2 grams... make 24 grams of mush tea and pour it into the tray and freeze it.
If I were doing it, I’d fill up the ice cube tray with water first.. then pour that into a pot and make standard tea.. maybe use 3ish tea bags.. then after you remove the tea bags, add a couple cubes worth of water for evaporation and some loss due to being absorbed by the mush material. Add the 24 gms (not ground but in semi-small pieces)... simmer that for 15-20 minutes.. then strain with a wire strained and pour that back into the ice cube tray and freeze

This sounds like it's worth trying. Thank you for all of that information. Sounds like it might be a bitch to strain into an ice cube tray.

Strain it into a pitcher with a pour spout.
