Afternoon all,
Firstly thank you for this forum, i've been frequenting a local place to me the last 3 weeks.
Today armed with my new knowledge helped by this forum, i feel like i hit the jackpot. 80+ in one area. most i have found in one walk in under 2 hours.
My problem is i found around 40 last weekend i put them in sealed tupperware container with some paper towels and they just turned black after a few days.
I need to preserve these for next weekend and would love some steps to follow on the best way to make them last i.e drying them out?
Would a hair dryer work ok? the oven seems too intense??
what would you do next?
Again thank you for your help it has helped me out no end.

Also gave each one a few flicks to hopefully preserve the area, my best finds to date :-)

A normal box fan can dry them out just fine.

Nice finds. For drying I leave them out on newspaper or something similar at room temp and they’ll dry out in a few days. A hairdry well speed up the process slightly. I’d avoid the oven. If you can leave them in direct sunlight near a window they go cracker dry quite quickly. For long term storage after that put them in a sealed jar with a packet of silica gel
Happy hunting

Thanks for the help, i think my mistake last week was putting them in a plastic tupperware container with the lid on? will of trapped the water evaporating. I also put them in the cupboard.
I will leave them in a container with the lid off on the window sill
I've got a fan on them now on low setting

Just over 2 hours under the fan and they feel much more brittle than before.
can pick the stem up and they are like brittle sticks
