Seriously_trippin said: If you post pics of front and back I can give you an idea of what it will traded at but it will be a very rough grading because I know a bit about centering on the back of the card, whitening on the corner and just the edges of the card etc. Sounds awesome and I'd like a picture anyway if you can. Shadowless Charizards are even more rare because one guy owns 80% of 1st edition Charizards produced.....
I forgot about this thread and just came across these pics of my card that I took a while ago, then remembered that I never posted em' in this thread. I only have pics of the front of it RN because I'm too lazy to get the card out and take a photo of the back and then upload it to my computer and then resize the pic then delete EXIF data then upload it to the shroomery lol.
But the back of the card doesn't have any marks or scratches or creases or anything.
To my eyes my card appears pretty "clean" and in decent shape. No creases and no bends anywhere, the card is perfectly straight & flat. No edges are frayed or splitting. On the very top edge of the card there is some very slight wearing, but no fraying of the edges and no delamination. There are just a few teeny tiny specs/scratches on the front/face of the card, most of which can't be seen unless the lighting is right.
I don't know how strict the grading services are. I assume that they are pretty strict and astringent and that to get a high grade a card has to be super duper pristine and that even the tiniest imperfection will drop the grading dramatically? I assumed that if a card has even just one tiny little scratch it would basically drop the card down to like a 3 or 4, but I've seen pics of cards that visibly look way worse than my card have a grading of like 4 to 5. I've seen pics of Charizards graded as 1 or 2 still fetching $100 to a few hundred dollars .
I assume mine is at least a 6? I really have no idea though. I don't know how strict grading is or how many points a tiny scratch/spec will take down the grade.
Here's my Charizard! lol ....In the 2nd pic, you can kinda see there are a few teeny tiny specs/scratches. For the most part, though, I feel it's in pretty decent shape. I honestly feel it is in damn near mint condition to my "amateur" eyes, but I'm not a collector and don't have any idea how perfect a card needs to be to be considered "near mint".

Wow! That is so cool. This is a Base set Holographic Charizard! It’s not the quarter million$ card unfortunately but that doesn’t make it cheap here’s one listing 1999 Pokemon Charizard Rare Unlimited Base Set Holo 4/102 Psa 3 Very SAVE Buying options About this page $395.00 +$40.49 est. tax $4.99 delivery eBay Visit site and that’s with a crap PSA grade of 3 .From your pictures, I had to guess it’s closer to about seven or eight ,though you may have a rare holo bleed where bits of holo foil are speckled on the card in places it shouldn’t be. To determine that I’d need you to use like a phone flashlight and take a pic of the dots of almost silver foil. It could be wear and tear and just pieces of the holo are showing because the card surface may have worn a bit or it could be a rare holo bleed only a flashlight pic could tell there . Without the holo bleed though it’s still worth 400$ now and prolly much more down the line. So good find ! Buy penny sleeves for the card and plastic toploaders. Any card shop will know what you’re talking about. That will essentially protect the investment until you can either grade it or sell it.
I actually have a Pokémon opening YouTube channel with my brother and I’d love to share it with the Shroomery but didn’t know if anyone is interested. It’s fun to see the art in Pokémon openings and I’d love to share it and we recently got a pikachu and zekrom worth about 3 grand when I spent 110$ on a box but all in total 1000$+ to get to that card.

Also when I say this card is possibly a 7-8 I mean PSA and that’s optimistic from them because they are pretty strict. CGC is less strict but you’ll get a little less when you sell, then there’s Beckett which is a brutal rating system that if you got a great grade it could triple the value. It’s a lot of gambling based on personal grading experience

I'd sell the 3 grand pikachu you got or whatever and take the 2grand profit ... in a few years they could be worth $10.
Trust me take the money and run.
The "pokemon" stock market is NOT going to last.
Just like the MTG stock market.

Yeah unfortunately the market already crashed really. Sealed product is still expensive but single cards are crashing and PSA which is the grading co. I'd have to use to get a perfect 10 and that would make it the 3k-4k they shut down their entire grading facilities because so many people sent in PSA submissions. So my end goal is to ride out the market crash and sell it for about 3 grand in maybe a year or so. All of the prices going down is not necessarily reflective on what the price is going to be in the next year or two because there is the devoted Pokemon fan base that will continue to buy cards no matter what the fad is.

Try to sell it ungraded NOW while stuff is still inflated would be my suggestion. I mean $3000 is a lot of money dude.
Take what you can get is my opinion but it's your card and you know more about the scene than me, so .
Hell, if you could BREAK EVEN I'd call it a win.
Sell what you can to break even and THEN start planning for the future.

Man I was spending all my money on 90s baseball cards like a fucking idiot. They are somehow worth less now than they were back then. I thought everythibg appreciated even if at least a little. I didn’t even like baseball that much
If I would’ve stuck that money into MtG which I love to this day I’d be retired.

Sports card market has been pretty wild this year. Have you checked any of your cards' values in the last few months?

First off, " If I could have" has no place.
Lol Mick you post in the stock thread you KNOW we should not be talking about " If I had only" type stuff.
Follow Geokills advice man what you have is right now so forget the has beens it leads to emotional decisions sometimes.
Also the whole pokemon card thing is likely to die out, and hard at some point, kind of like baseball cards did.
Can you imagine some 50 year old dude being like OH YEAH THERE IS MY CHARIZARD

Eh, some trading card collectibles from the early 20th century go for pretty big bucks. Cigarette pack trading cards, cracker jacks toys, etc. Prices now are pretty inflated yeah, but 50 years from now I could easily see a base set card going for a lot lot more.

That stuff you mention... they made very few of....., and what few WERE saved were probably poorly saved.
Think about it. They are printing BILLIONS of Magic the Gathering and Pokemon cards AND*** *have been** for years now.
BILLIONS
Of course there are "rare ones"
AND*** people are saving them. MILLIONS OF RARES.
The market is so fucking flooded it's not even funny.
Take the money and run with the pokemon if you can.

Sure- I'll give you that.
But that's a pretty small corner of things.
Those things are only worth that much because people are PAYING THAT.
Imagine when people lose interest.
