i started eating mushrooms october 2019. ive had a huge supply of golden teacher that is still nowhere near being depleted. i usually trip once or twice every month, though sometimes i trip weekly. i dose anywhere between 5g to 8g. all trips have been great and i havent noticed any negative effects. i wonder why ive been able to trip so frequently for over a year without really feeling like i want to stop. i wonder if any of this will have any negative effects as time goes on. anyone have similar experiences?

I used to trip more than weekly. I don't think it's the healthiest thing in the world but for me at least they self-regulated and I haven't tripped in a really long time.
Looking back I was probably in my head a bit more during those times. When you trip very often you can tend to conjure up images more easily in your head and see visual distortions more often all around you. I wouldn't want to go back to that but it's not like it really hurt me in any way.
One thing I will say is, the benefits of tripping do drop off pretty steeply with frequency of trips. So even if the trips aren't harming you very much, it's not like they're benefitting you either. I'd recommend being a bit more infrequent.

thanks for your response and your thoughts.
i mainly trip to augment my video games. i enjoy them sober as well but mushrooms really bring out the best of a good game. im not talking call of duty. more like fallout, mass effect, or elite dangerous, or red dead redemption 2. things along those lines.
i dont really trip for introspection. i like who i am as a person, and my life is well in order and about as close to perfect as i could possibly want it to be. i just trip because i enjoy the feeling and the way it makes me more into the game i might be playing.
its not even like my life is just lol shrooms and games. i work about 50-60 hours a week at a safety sensitive job that requires a ton of focus, mental and physical energy so by the end of the work week i'm in need of a total recharge.
so maybe thats why i'm ok with doing them so often. because i have a balance.
none of what i say is me rationalizing why i do them, just discussion.

Yeah I mean like, we all think we have a balance. I'm in college and have a 4.0, so on the surface it was easy to say it was balanced if I was doing my work perfectly
But in retrospect it really wasn't, tripping that much starts to fuck with your brain just a little bit. But you won't believe me unless/until it happens to you anyways

So ive been tripping once every 3-4 weeks for 2-3 years now. Started with shrooms but been LSD for the past 9 months or so. I also do only large doses 5g+ or 400mics+ I stay away from weekly or anything for tolerance and/or lifestyle. Id love to trip every weekend but im 34 and married with 2 kids. I work full time and also am also pursuing my Bachelors in Business Administration (Currently 79 credits done and 4.0 GPA). Ive managed to save up plenty of money, and also have a good amount invested. All things considered I should be pretty happy but im not. Tripping has been very introspective for me and ive made several life changes bc of psychs. I relate to your comments about recharging from working hard. I havent had any issues yet but often wonder about this myself. I imagine the long term effects are more pronounced with lsd than shrooms but i dont know. Hoping for the best for both of us.

I've done it before occasionally, tripping every weekend or more for a while. It never seems very good for my mental health and interpersonal relationships if I do it too often.
If I do lysergamides (LSD, etc.) too often, I become overly emotional and a little irrational or overly simplistic. I make bad decisions that I would never normally make. I get briefly obsessed with things. It's almost like a little bit of the push of tripping stays with me for a while if I do it too often. Sometimes, these effects can actually be beneficial if I randomly happen to be obsessing about good things and making good decisions I would never normally make, but it seems random what I latch on to.
It's not as bad with tryptamines like mushrooms, but there are still some negative effects if I do it too often. Mainly, my mental health seems to suffer if I do tryptamines too often, and I become increasingly interested in bad ideas, or maybe my ability to tell good ideas from bad ideas is decreased or something. But tryptamines rarely lead to bad decisions or irrationality like lysergamides can if I do them too often. It's like my mind becomes more disorganized if I do tryptamines like mushrooms too often.

That would be conforming with the idea that psychedelics inhibit frontal lobe activity (default mode network) which is dealing with self-regulation. Too much self-regulation handicaps emotional experience - too little handicaps rational behaviour.

I don't see the problem with tripping whenever it's not a problem. If you're rolling fine and there's no issues then it's fine. It's not gonna catch you out like meth or alcohol.
People can end up in denial about their psychedelic use though, or even just not really realise how it is changing them. I've had periods of a year or more where weekly use didn't bother me and other periods where I'd really started to get some funny ideas after five or six months, but not really realise it till after I stepped back.
For me it does become too weird though. I see the warning signs before everything goes to shit. Some people don't, I have met the odd LSD casualty and the rarer mushroom casualty. I reckon even those people would hit baseline again in less than a year if they stopped doing so much all the time.
Don't sweat it OP. If you think you're fine and no one around you is telling you any different, you're fine.

Would love to read more about those "funny ideas". What "warning signs" do you tend to see?

Me personally, i took Ayahuasca daily/near daily for 4 years, didn't have an issue with it, Cannabis caused me more issues than regular Aya consumption did. Though that's not a recommendation to others to do what i did, but personally i didn't have an issue. Not sure about what it's like to dose mushrooms or LSD regularly though, each Psychedelic is different and Aya has the added benefits of the Harmalas/MAO-A inhibition as well as DMT being natural to the body.

I do a very technical job, so if I notice my problem solving abilities or concentration abilities start to falter that can be a red flag. Also if I think about psychedelics constantly rather than what I'm doing, constantly reliving experiences rather than being in the moment, warning sign. Also if I start to think that other people will accept tripping lifestyle as "normal" and it's cool to tell everyone, that's simply just losing grip on reality. That's just not how it is.
Looking forward to planned trips isn't a concern though, nor discussing psychedelics when the topic is on hand. It's just when they begin to become a constant pivotal point in my life I know it's time for a break.

The only time I tripped every week was when I was taking my spiritual journey several years ago to get a look into my depression and cognitive behavior. After the 4th week I couldn't really get much further into my inner psychology so I stopped tripping every week. I took an eighth once a week for 4 weeks. The last trip I didn't really get much out of so I figured I learned all I needed to and it was time for a break.
Right now and since around nov 2019 when I've finally gotten access to mushrooms again, I've been tripping about every 2-4 weeks. Some months are a bit less due to issues with my roommate or my moods, but I pretty much trip once to twice per month, even if it's a lower dose like 60ug acid or 1.5g mush. I always become a much better person each and every time I take a psychedelic. I find that if I trip at least once a month it gives my emotions and stress a good reset and I can think much clearly and function much better in society and at home. I'm more patient and empathetic with people and can make decisions more easily.
This year is fucking weird though with the pandemic and all this apocalyptic global shit going on. This has given my trips this year more of a darker or strange demeanor that it wouldn't otherwise have in a normal year without a pandemic. So I've been doing lower doses because higher doses seem to just put me in these strange realms that I'd rather not be in.
If I had my own place or at least a place with chill roommates who are okay with drugs then I could probably see myself tripping on a low-dose like 60 micrograms of LSD every week because I think 60 micrograms is a perfect low dose where you are still grounded in reality but you have a mild psychedelic euphoric mindset so if you really want to think deep you can or you don't have to. 60 micrograms is also a good dose if you just want to put on some music and dance. I could see myself going to a club or a rave on 60 micrograms and just dancing the whole night.

As much as I love mushrooms, I feel that I need to reserve them for only a few times a year. I have used them on a more regular basis and I feel that when you take them very frequently, they start to loose the magic. I think a nice sweet spot would be once a month under the full moon but I have yet to execute that. @OutsideOfMyMind totally agree with you about the craziness of the year. Shrooms feed off of vibes and since the world is all fucked up now for shitty reasons, the whole global consciousness is fucked up as a result. This in turn affects the vibe of the trip. This really upsets me and all my recent trips have had strange tones since all this bullshit has started up.
One time I was tripping balls deep in the mountains and I felt such love and I had a vision of all the different paths of energy and the roads that surround the Earth. After the trip ended, I got off of the mountain and the first thing I saw was a bus driver wearing a mask and it seemed so fucked up to me. All this nonsense is a bad vibe that goes against our natural humanity and I hope that the vibes of the world return to a state of peace and harmony in the near future.

This is what I was thinking as to the reason why a lot of peoples' trips are so strange this year. The whole vibration and frequency of the planet it fucked.

mini-doser here, 2 to 4 days between is my norm. discussing dosage in terms of blotters (I equate acid effects with psilocybin effects) seems odd, because they are not doped evenly but my usual is 1/4 to 1/2 the normal dose (which would be 1 blotter). the effects I go for are:
- Time distortion, which affords me more patience when dealing with others.
- Mental spaciousness in which I can explore more ideas at the same time.
- Connectedness, in which I can rest more comfortably on what persists (and things seem to persist longer), and
- Candy lights when I look out at the city at night, it is a rainbow collection of radial patterns from every streetlight or apartment window.
If I take too much then it is still great but it cuts into my schedule - habit or frequency; my self directed character is kind of tied to feeling close to the effects listed above.
