Pan Cyans spawn/substrate

I plan on cultivating Pan Cyans. My possibly stupid question is: can the spawn be the same as the substrate?
In Pan Cyans' case, the spawn would be pasteurised horse manure with a vermiculite casing layer. Then, when the mycellium spreads I transfer the myceliated spawn to a shoebox and add manure/vermiculite/coir if needed.
Does that sound like a good plan?
I was also thinking about UncleBen's TEK, but don't know how well Pan Cyans grow in rice.
All help is appreciated, thanks.

Everything you just described is substrate.
Spawn is hydrated, then colonized grain.
Coir, poo, and verm are all substrates
Uncle Ben's tek is an idea that has very little understanding of what sterile means

A lot of guys mix the grain and the sub together and pc or pasteurize it and then inject it with lc.
Have you got growing cubes down? Pans are kinda tricky. Agar and a more complex fruiting chamber are really important.

Hey, it seems like a lot of people who have been growing shrooms for a long time hate uncle Ben's. I think it's because it negates a huge portion of the work to be done. And there seems to be a lot of pride attached to methods. I say this because I have used Uncle Ben's many times. Probably around 15-20. And I have yet for one to contam. I am extremely sterile in my process, which is why I have had so much success. Unfortunately your statement isn't true in mine and any MANY other's cases. That's right, I grow MAD shrooms and never had to buy a pressure cooker! Lol. If that bothers you, maybe you need to eat 5 g and reflect on your egoic attachment to method. 🙏🕉️🤠🌌🍄
People have successfully grown pan cyan with UB, btw. I am doing it now. You will need manure for the substrate. I don't think that all strains of pan cyan work with UB, though. So you may want to try a few different kinds like I am. If you can't get it to take off, you may want to do it old fashioned with a pressure cooker. Or you can use the stove to steam jars until sterile. That's works when done properly, I have done it with popcorn jars. I only had one jar out of 5 contam, and it simple wasn't in the pot being steamed as long. I did one for only 2 hours, and the rest for 4. The 2 hour one didn't work. Great the shit out of PE6 that way.
Agar works with pan cyan too, but you have to tweak the recipe a bit. I think you add potato starch or something, don't quote me on that though. I don't remember the whole deal with that. BUT I believe UB tek will work so long as your substrate has manure in it, and you do the casing layer. They also need a lot more moisture and air flow than cubes.

I agree on the Uncle Ben's however it is very easy for a number. I prefer to sterilize my own spawn then transfer agar to the mason jars with modified lids. Very easy and nearly fool proof.
