Always mold

Hello Folks,
I always get mold when i try to grow, i keep the tub inside a closet because i can turn the light on in there so the mushies get light from a led lamp. and also because its a more stable temperature in there. however i also got 7Kg/15lbs bags of syrian rue/harmala seed in there. and every time i leave my closet door open my room smells like harmala seeds :P (when i have the tub with mushies in there i let my closet door closed of course) but i was thinking maybe the mold comes from the small particles of harmala seeds. what do you think? could that be the reason. Because the last tub that i had was in good condition until i opened the lid to check the colonization state, after that boom i got mold inside there and before that with my last two tubs i left the lid of for a few days to let my substrate dry out a little because it was to wet after i left my lid of boom mold started to from. so there is definitely something that causes the mold when i open the lid. so could the harmala particles cause the mold ?

You more info and maybe some pics? Pretty much would just be guessing at this point.
What kind spawn? Inoculated in what way? How's your sterile tech?

i cant provide pics because i disposed the content of the tub.
as for spawn i used pre sterilized rye bags 3l/6.6lbs. inoculated with a m.s (mixed spore syringe) sterile tech: i used a face mask, gloves and i heated the tip of the spore syringe and i also whipped the injection port with 70% ethanol.
i really see a pattern here, every time i open up the lid i get mold. i can have the tub in colonization condition for 2 weeks, but once i open the lid everything turns green.
those pre sterilized rye bags cost 12 euro. so its a bit expensive to keep throwing money away. any way i removed those bags of seeds and placed a ventilator inside the closet to remove all the floating seeds particles. i will see how it goes when my spawn bags are ready

Spores to grain is a crap shoot. Learn to work with agar you will have better results. Also pre sterilized grain can have issues from what I see reported here on the site

Yeah there’s way too many vectors that are out of your hands.. someone else making your spawn.. using a spore syringe (others make that too?) as stated. If you think it may be the seeds, I’d move them and see what happens, but I’d say prep your own grain.. while you’re learning agar, I’d make a few pf cakes and inoculate those with a different vendor syringe or make your own via prints. Sounds more like bad sterile technique than it does moldy seeds (but ya never know) And it happening when you open the lid is just a coincidence, more than likely.. imo. But it sounds like you have some testing to do

Thanks for your response however you did not addressed that to my username (you replied to Polyflakes) so i did not get a automatic email from Shroomery.
Yes i was thinking to buy rye and sterilize it my self. i only got a basic pressure cooker of 12 psi. so i will see how it goes.
I just inoculated a rye bag with my own freshly made spore syringe. The previous bags where indeed from the spore syringe that i bought. I also bought agar and some additional things to make agar. so when i have new mushies i will start to clone those.
¨And it happening when you open the lid is just a coincidence, more than likely.. imo¨ i don't know man, the first two times i got mold is when i saw mushie but i needed to let the lid off a few days to dry the substrate a little bit. than after those 3,4 days i began to see little green mold. my last tub was a major fiasco, i was still in the colonization period when i cracked up the lid a few times to check if the mycelium was colonizing on the top layer and a few days a latter everywhere was mold. did not even got one mushie from that one. So there is definitely a correlation between opening the lid and mold. i highly suspect its because of the harmala seeds that where laying in the closet. mind you we not talking about a handful of seeds, we talking about 7Kg/15lbs of material. also i got that revelation when i took some harmala resin and 1gr of mushie. it could be they where communicating with me

Hell I wasn’t even aware you can get reply notifications. Lol Guess I’ll pay more attention to whom I’m replying on my response.
I’ve been doing this a while and lived in some wretched dank houses and apts and opened lids many times without tubs going bad. Most of my tubs had open holes in the lid.

Those are press n seal lids with a ~100 needle holes poked in them and this dirty ass fan blowing 24/7

And I was using manure... I just don’t want you to focus on the wrong fix to your problem thereby, missing the actual fix.
Are the seeds moldy?
If you have clean spawn and use reliable coir, subs are crazy resilient. And as has been said, spore syringe to grain is risky business.. you can have a contaminant hiding in a sub that doesn’t show itself until late in the game.
With premade bags, You have no way of knowing that the person that made your grain bags sterilized them properly.. maybe they only pc’d for an hour.. time is money.
What kind of tub set up are you using?

the seeds are bone dry and there is no mold on the seeds.
my tub is un modified. just as bodshiva's tek.
i have still 3 bags left. so i will use those and see how it goes without those bags of seeds in the closet.
i must say i am not to happy with the rye bags though. i can inoculate them and wait more than 2.5 months at the proper temperature. and still the core will not colonize. also you could still see specs of brown trough out the outer layer of the bags. somebody said that 3L/6Lbs is to much. i should try 1L or 2L max. i mailed the company they say 1L is the same price -_-
yeah i am totally going to do the agar route, agar has so much more benefits being able to see if there is contamination, quicker colozation time of spawn, being able to clone, long term storage option of cloning material ect...

You can't... Show me where this feature is OP. I've looked for said feature to no avail more than once because I forgot I had looked already before. Every so often while high I get the idea that this would be a good feature only to be reminded with a quick search that the shroomery does not operate for our convenience in every possible way LOL. I imagine resources are limited to keep the site up with the times in the features department.
Edit: I just noticed OP joined today lol, so I won't be expecting to have him show me where to find this mysterious feature. 😅 Faht clearly he was just assuming the shroomery is more feature rich than it is, which I get, because most sites are. 🤣 Long live the shroomery!

Baaaa-HAHAHAHAHA
Okay monkey out!
Sorry OP!
I'm a challenged individual, didn't mean to slight you as if having just signed up makes you some kind of moron I just assumed you were working on assumptions from how your memberships to other sites have worked because I'll be God damned if I couldn't find that feature more than once even searching through the forums for people talking about it. Thanks for enlightening me!
Send me a PM! You are now at the top of my list for my next spore print giveaway coming up.
Again, my apologies and I look forward to seeing you around brother! You clearly have more innate aptitude for moving through the shroomery in one day than I have since I found this place!
