Re: 90% colonization PF tek jars pinning early? [Re: Mateja]

Well the "try to avoid" is really trying to avoid contams that cause the lack of full colonization. There's usually a reason that something doesn't reach 100% and I would say that reason is most likely a contam. Of course if using MS there's more of a chance. You can't really avoid early pinning I suppose I worded that incorrectly but you can try to avoid contamination which would lead to uncolonized parts which leads to early pinning.

And OP you can always just cover holes with duct tape  That plastic cloth you mentioned would probably work though.

Many things get said about many different things every day on this forum, but very rarely do growers stop to ask why or how these extraordinary claims started spreading as gospel even tho there's not one single document anywhere to support claims like the one you made. That's why I'm lately going on a mission to question every empty claim based in not much if anything at all in most cases. The moment we stop the constant questioning and challenging of the status quo is the moment this full of life hobby becomes a stagnant lifeless swamp full of baseless conspiracies and self fulfilling prophecies.

So I lined the tote with clear plastic drop cloth to cover the holes and Ill follow your tek instructions for the rest of it. Do you think that will work ok?

Sure it will work, especially if you let it work by itself for the most part with minimal involvement from yourself

I don't actually know if it has to be a specific size, however I did read that if you only put 1 small cake in a large SGFC it won't have the correct climate to thrive. So I assumed that a very small tote won't be able to create the proper air exchange and flow to stay at the proper humidity levels. By all means, if I am wrong then I am fine with that as I am always learning in this new hobby.

I birthed my first 4 jars a few minutes ago.
These little guys are what I recovered.
Should I toss them or will they be fine after drying?

Don't throw away food of its not spoiled (it's not) tho I'd probably boil those for 10min before ingesting  gl thumbup:

You might wanna pick the vermiculite off but they look fine to ingest. Ugly fruits never hurt anyone  But like Mateah said I would probably boil those, make a tea with lemon if you want it to taste good.

- - UPDATE - -

These jars of B+ were inoculated 13 days ago and 4 of them seem to be 100% colonized. Is that super fast or normal for healthy jars?
