Doner is the meat/way it's cooked. The firm favourite of post-drinking street meals in England:

--------------------
Let it be seen that you are nothing. And in knowing that you are nothing... there is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. What can happen to you? Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. It will only destroy what you are not.

Dang JSB, those meats look so good! I looked into buying a gyro machine like in those pics before. They wanted over $300 for the cheapest so I almost made my own using a rotisserie motor from a BBQ grill and an element from an oven with a heat reflector behind it. I drew up the plans and everything and then got distracted and never went through with it. The other thing is it would just be my wife and I and that is a ton of meat for just 2 people. I would have to make some and then sell the rest on the streets like they do in England.

I go here for döner kebab every weekend

Literally order from these guys.

They are from Turkey though. They work crazy hours. The shop is open from like 6 in the morning till around 11 at night and after they drive taxi's too

They rotate first place with another shop on this cities kebab report

Left is lamb and right is chicken

I always get the lamb

I did some reading.
The vertical rotisserie was introduced in the Ottoman empire in the mid 1800s.
Döner kebab is the original turkish version.
Arabs turned the dish into schwarma.
The Greeks changed the recipe to create gyros.
In the early 20th century Lebanese immigrants to mexico adapted schwarma with local ingredients to make al pastor.
"Donair" is a Canadian version introduced in the 1970s. Now the official food of Halifax.
