Blood pressure is finally in check! 2

I was on a leave of absence from work in July for intense depression and anxiety. My bp at the doc's was 164/107. They didn't think it was right because I'm 5'11" 190lbs so they took it again. 154/95. Still through the roof. They asked if I was having chest pains or palpitations. Nope.
Granted I'd just come off an alcoholic bender but yeah I refused bp meds and vowed to get back into the gym. So I did. I run 5-10 miles a day on the elliptical. I'm finally getting shredded too and my diet is impeccable. Drinking is down to a minimum. I had a 750ml bottle of pumkin ale yesterday and stopped at that... definitely proud of myself.
I took my bp after waking up today... 119/73. Resting heart rate 49. The little machine said irregular heartbeat detected, but whatever. One issue at a time.

Good job, I honestly would not worry too much if that monitor said your heartbeat was irregular. Most people have respiratory based sinus arrhythmia or just a ectopic beat.

Yeah I'm definitely not worried. It's hasn't happened since but regardless, it feels great to be in shape and see a physical number in front of me to prove it.

Yet another recently relatable thread.
Still trying to understand, because I like my GP. But he thought hbp stage 1- low 2 was more favorable than going up on my BP meds, as that is when side effects occur.
But I disregarded danger and paid thr price a few nights ago, and had numbers like yours, with persistent chest pain.
It has inspired me to deal with this, am way too young to be dealing, but other medical issues have pushed BP to the back burner.
So I commend you, thats awesome to have a positive outcome after hard work. I'm already pretty active, self medicate with caffeine though and that cant be helping.
Jw, do you take any supplements? Any changes in diet?

I cook all of my own meals and I take magnesium before bed and omega 3s if I don't eat my smoked kippers that day.
My typical day is wake up a 5, one scoop of preworkout and 1 tbsp of white kratom.
Gym at 6. 5 to 10 miles on the elliptical averaging 6min/mile.
Sometimes lifting, sometimes just cardio.
Breakfast is 2 fried eggs, 2 pieces of Dave's Killer Bread or Ezekiel bread, imperial butter spread, fruit, and a half of a Hatfield ham steak.
Lunch is a can of trader Joes smoked kippers, a banana, and a handful of unsalted toasted almonds.
Dinner is mushrooms, a steamed veggie (like broccoli or sweet potatoes) and a protein like pork chops, chicken, steak, etc.
Then a spoonful or two of almond or peanut butter as a snack before bed.
I definitely repeat meals a lot but I truly enjoy them and never get tired of them. Here are some photos of said meals.

That's right, I think I've asked you this before, sorry.
Anything you can share as far as your motivation to make a complete come around? Did you formulate a plan, use anything specific to overcome bad habits?

It all stemmed from drinking too much, all day every day. It was just normal for me and although I never got hungover I looked like absolute shit and weighed almost 300lbs. I cut the drinking first then 30 lbs later i started exercising.
The progress is what kept me going. I felt so amazing on my own devices.
There was never a plan. I don't even track my calories or exercises anymore; I just do my own thing and as long as I stay active and eat right it works itself out.
Use the Lose It app. You'll learn to count calories and nutrient intake and eventually it'll just become second nature. It'll become routine.

Cannot afford to lose any weight. Think I have survived with mental illness for most my life, and its bleeding over into physical symptoms.
Plan is to go full speed in addressing this.
Really glad to hear your success story, quite inspiring! What a great place to be that you have overcome your binds and recreated your habits and routine. And now it's second nature and seems like you enjoy your new lifestyle.

Yeah it's great until random suicidal tendencies and depression sets in. I'm hoping the meds I'm on stave it off this time.

Stay in the moment, be sure to speak up if things go south. Don't interpret my commendation as a shelf to put yourself on, accidents happen. No expectations only hope and will.
