Any Cake or GMO experts in here
    #26941126 - 09/17/20 05:57 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

first pic or pic on left is GMO
Second pic or pic on right is Wedding Cake

Both pics are of the main cola :frown:

Alright, so this is my first go with wedding cake and my second go with GMO.  I am not an expert or pro grower, but after 15 years under the lamps i think i can say I'm "capable".

On the first attempt with GMO I hit a snag and thought I had stunted the plant.  It produced super resinous and ultra dense buds, but they were pathetically small.  I still managed to eke out 38 grams from one plant which far surpassed what i was expecting.

Now my second grow with it I didnt fuck it up and cause massive fan damage, but I'm still seeing the same small but ultra resinous/dense buds.

Wedding cake is almost similar, but the nugs are bigger, about golf ball size.

Is this just normal with these strains, small but ultra potent/dense buds?  They both grow lanky as fuck with like 4-6 inches of internodal space and like zero veg growth on them.  Meanwhile my sweet black angel plants are so fucking large and heavy they're about snapping the main stalk.  Considering both the GMO and the WC plant arent showing any sign of stress or damage, im kinda scratching my head here.  Also the WC buds are just making me drool, they're almost pure white with these huge swollen calyxes, i am dying to chop it down and try it out.  I just wish I could get some extra chonk onto both plants in terms of buds.

ya have heard this alot of these poly hybrid s1 of s1 selected for resin and terps only have this and often need long veg to get larger roots before flowering.

huh, i didn't know that, but considering how i grow that would make a lot of sense.  I have zero veg period essentially.  I root clones, they live in solos for like two weeks, then a week under hps in their final pot to harden up before i flip.  If i have my bug problem under control, ill keep a GMO cut aside and veg it for a month or two and flower that in december.

Those look right. Most strains with OG genetics are like that, they grow those smaller golf ball type colas. Usually super potent and resinous too, yeah. They can be kind of finicky plants sometimes as well.

Vegging longer like the man said, and training for more tops is all you could really do for a bigger yield per plant probably.

its not yield so much as it is flower size.  Just pathetically small buds is all.  Im gonna try a longer veg and see if that may help.  May have killed my WC mom though with too much pyr, i feel so dumb today.  It has not been a good start of the week for me.

Maybe bigger pots too, idk what size you are using. I still think flower size is going to be somewhat limited by genetics with those two, but I could be wrong.

Sucks about the mom, I messed up a few plants with spinosad a couple of weeks ago. Damn bugs. They're dead now, but...

I once had a white widow plant that was completely useless for indoor growing.  It would go from a 8" clone to damn near 6' in flower.

That asside, you have given very little information as to how you are growing these plants.  How does one diagnose issues with next to no information?
