Hello,
I'm new to the forum. I read the intro and I realize crisp pics are essential so my apologies in advance. I found this singular tiny mushroom near a tree in a field that used to be grazed, across from a farm.
I'm curious about this as it never bruised a blueish hue when I picked it. Turned brownish. Same with the slightly accentuated head. It was tiny, young. A friend who is forager gave me tips as to what to look for and he thought it looked like cubensis (sp), but I didn't see that it grew in MA.
I have it drying now and the cap now is a light brownish color. The tip slightly darker. Tiny stem which broke off is brown.
Any help, if even possible, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That’s too small and immature to be identified.
You will never find psilocybe cubensis(in the wild) in your state.

Thank you. I didn't know if it was best to pick them while the cap was still somewhat closed. I'm going back after the rain tomorrow as I feel I have some promising areas to explore.
Thanks for the quick reply

Thats a coprinoid mushroom.
Your best best is to looks for panaeolus cinctulus and not cubensis, lsilocybe cubensis is subtropical and only grows in closets in your state. You need to learn what you're looking for instead of assuming everything that grows in cow shit is active.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate you identifying. I don't assume everything grows in cow shit, though. I used to grow them myself on rice cakes in a controlled environment, but that was 20 years ago and only one strain. Today I was adjacent to a farm, looking at grazed pastures (which is what I posted if you read it). Thanks.

Just to follow up, I looked over coprinoid images and they don't look anything like what I picked. I sent my friend who forages my pic and he sent this one back. The one I picked looked exactly like this one before it bruised up brown.
I don't trust myself, my eyes. Obviously the people on this forum know what they're looking at. That's why I'm here. I'll keep looking after this rain...
