Genetic process
    #26973624 - 10/07/20 11:01 AM (3 years, 3 months ago)

I had a successful harvest a few months ago and took a tissue sample of my best fruit. Since then I’ve made 5 transfers on agar and I’m finally seeing the stringy growth I’ve seen others talking about and I’m curious if this is the time to transfer a section of it to a slant and then throw the extra wedges into some wbs.

I know over time ( multiple clones / transfers ) the genetics weaken. I want to make sure the mycelium I have will be around for as long as possible for future grows. I see people argue all day on when to make a slant, how many times to clone, etc etc.

Where I’m at is this:
Multi spore - tissue sample - agar transfer till isolate - slant a section then grow out

What confuses me is once I have a new harvest, what do I use to start the next grow to have the least about of weakened genetics?

I apologize if this has been answered already, thanks for your time

I would say use the slant to make additional plates then go back to those plates for subsequent grows. Keep track of dates and transfers and stuff like that. If you have the plates and/or slants in a mycology only refrigerator, they should last a long time
