I am wondering if this is the start or colonization or if it is just the grain?

Those are just burst grain... can you walk us through what you've got going on in that bag? Was it a kit? Did you use a spore syringe to inoculate?

$20 that was inoculated with an MS syringe. Man those are some annihilated grains!

Always nice to do! I think the setup is self explanatory though... pre-sterilized bag with grains, SHIP by them, and sub right in there ready to go.
There's a good chance it'll work though with some luck. Good luck!

Thanks for reply, Yea you are correct about the setup. Got the setup from mycohaus, everything looked fine until I checked on them after 7 days. That is when I noticed the weird grains, does that mean anything if they burst like that?

its a sign of over hydration... it won't kill the grow but its not optimal. If you get some fruits and decide to move to agar and cloning, you'll have to learn the art of prepping grain for yourself... its not super hard, just takes patience, like much of this sport... lol

You should be fine if the spores were clean. I would have let the grains fully colonize before putting on the sub, but thats just me.

Ok yea I guess using a grow kit was the easy/lazy route. I’ll look into making my own set up next time thanks.

I don't think that was an option, the whole thing usually comes pre-sterilized as a single unit. I think it's a decent idea actually, aside from the usual caveats of using unsterile spore syringes.
