Could those be psilos?

  • Gills: whitish

  • Stem: very light brown

  • Cap: light gray to light brown - diameter about 1.5 cm

  • Spore print color: whitish

  • Bruising: No color change was observed.

  • Location: Northern Germany

First of all the two pictures very likely show different species!

My question is mostly aimed at clearing up some confusion about collecting magic mushrooms here. My naive goal is to find Semilanceatas. So far I never found those on meadows where sheeps are around - which is supposedly the stereotypical place to look for them. Instead I find endless super similar little mushrooms next to dead wood and on soil.

If I check my mushroom guide then I'll find a myriad of species which are not semilanceatas but look super similar and are never poisoneous beyond the alkaloids (which usually gets them officially labelled as toxic).

Something that confuses me is that they don't show blue discolorations around brusings and their spores are never black. But aren't those key features of psilos?

Can somebody shed some light on what for example above pictured mushrooms could be?

They are not semis. Semis have brown/purple spore prints.

I dont know what species they are, so hopefully someone else can shed some light on that.

When it comes to hunting liberty caps I find them on grass lawns. I've actually found more on lawns and places where there are no animals than places with animals.

My guess is those are Mycenas. For my untrained eye they look indistinguishable from a number of Psilo species.

Those don't seem to be relevant for tripping.
