Salvia question
    #26968471 - 10/04/20 02:04 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

I have tried smoking various extracts in the past and they were all very scary I am now trying chewing but am concerned since the trip lasts much longer than smoking. I know that chewing is weaker then smoking but does chewing give the same uncomfortable feeling that smoking does? Is there a possibility I could be put back on the conveyor belt?

:breakout:

Is all I've ever experienced with said compound, both smoking and chewing.

Do you get that awful pins and needles/being pulled to the side feeling?  Seems like it might just be more of that, but I've never tried chewing it.

I can't make myself get comfortable with salvia.  Scares the hell out of me as well...

It's also really, really easy to extract your own and make it whateverX you want with only acetone.

But even at 10x I find it anything but enjoyable... hard to let go.

I remember vaping salvia over a decade ago. It took FOREVER to kick in to the point we thought we screwed up choosing to vape it and it wasn't going to be activated. Nope, maybe two hours later, it not only kicked it but STAYED active for over an hour. Crazy stuff!

Really?  You sure that was Salvia?  Shit lasts like 5-15 minutes every time I've tried!

Yeah you hold it in for 30 secs at least before it activates.

Very harsh, like inhaling a hookah coal.

vaping is not an option.
the required temps will sear your throat and lungs.

smoking is best

Vaping plain leaf works just fine with the proper vape.

I use my old box vape and whip for vaping plain leaf.  No problem with harsh temps on the throat and lungs at all.  The only risk with the whip is burning the material when I would rather vape it.  If I inhale too slowly, the material will burn.  Which IS harsh.

Dosing is not as exact as with smoking, but vaping is certainly an option depending on your needs.  Sometimes it takes a couple of hits to get to the depth I want.

There is a thread on the DMT-Nexus where a few experimenters listed their vapes that worked well.

Chewing is generally much more comfortable and controllable.  You're not typically chopped up on a conveyor belt when quidding.

Crazy that you say on the conveyer belt. It brought me back to my only experience with Salvia where it really hit me hard and was exactly like that. Sucked me back in my seat and sent me to another place completely. Never tried chewing, but a few minutes was quite enough.

My hair feels like it's melting off one side of my head like ice cream, whilst everything else "moves away" from me. It's happened every attempt I've made, 10X, 20X (twice).

Salvia at low doses is tolerable for me, but it's not interesting. At high doses I just end up being turned into 2 dimensions and then the arrow of time turns into me moving along it but spatially somehow, then if the dose is higher than that, I will turn into one dimension and then dissolve into whatever I was resting  on. Then I come to and wonder if I died. Usually salvia gives me the best ego death, but at a costly price of annoying pins and needles everywhere and feeling like my body is being skewered into the fabric of space around me. I don't like it. Maybe if I had something for anesthesia at the same time, it might not be so bad. Not sure, though. Probably would just make it worse.

A small dose of salvia is very stimulating and can put you in the zone, however, and time goes by a little more slowly. Best enjoyed after work I'd say. Or any long  activity and you just wanna chill.

as long as that activity does not involve operating machines.

anyway as for vaping, please note that the vaporization temperature for salvinorin-A also known as Boiling point is 760.2 °C (1,400.4 °F)

check wikipedia.

you cannot actually vape it in vapes. you can start a burn which releases liquid particles of salvinorin-A and that is how we smoke it, melting the trichomes and sucking the liquid droplets in the smokestream.

1400 F degrees is too hot for all your living tissues. so vaping it is a fallacy and I think Daniel Siebert is responsible for that, since his first reported experience involved a torch and a metal plate of pure salvinorin-A. what he inhaled using a glass straw was cooled down and included liquid particles.

smoked extract is the best and easiest way to control your dosage and explore this with care. Titrate up. do not jump to the greatest challenge.

no of course

delicious

you can put tiny tiny amount in like a cigarette or pipe

evenly mostly tobacco

like a speckle

at every place in the cigarette (rolling cigarette? tiny)

and you can start with one puff

like out of the porch

at least someplace nice where you feel comfortable

it will probably be way too weak

but it's funner to go up and get high on  one of the greatest psychoactives than to doze off and blast off into blackess don't do that! it's stupid

it's one of those stupid monkey things

then when you hit the best dose you will be like oh this is better than before

you know

Seibert said "When this compound is heated beyond its melting point (edit: 240°C), it gradually evaporates. The rate of evaporation increases with temperature. It can evaporate quickly and completely without ever actually boiling—a process known as sublimation..."

You science-y people can figure out the technical details of what is happening and argue over the semantics of vaporization.

I'll just say that practically speaking, many cannabis-based vaporizing devices (especially convection style) such as the e-nano, standard 'box' vapes, and a GVG have been used quite successfully to 'vape' both plain leaf and extracts.

Call it whatever you like, but this is a very usable alternative which is generally much less harsh on one's throat and lungs than combusting the material.
