Tripping during a pandemic and other "apocalyptic" global events... anyone else feel this way sometimes when tripping this year?

In general, does anyone else think that tripping during a global "apocalyptic" event is making some of your trips a little bit different, strange, or even a little scary?
I've had a lot of free time this year because I haven't been to work since March, except for the 3 weeks my job opened in june before shortly getting shut down again by the department of health due to covid numbers. I've had a lot of time to do a lot of soul searching, reflecting on my life, regrouping, destressing, RELAXING, doing whatever I want, and tripping.
Now that there is a pandemic, the West coast of the usa is on fire, and other global events are happening, I can't help but think about it, either briefly or not, during some of my trips. It gives the trip a very strange, different, almost scary vibe until I move onto the next segment or mind state of my trip. I look at the world and I see all the problems going on and I worry for my life. Not my immediately life because things are perfectly ok right now, but I have no clue and nobody else does either as to when EVERYONE will go back to work and how everything will pan out. We are basically living out a lot of things in the book of Revelations.

Yes, yes, and yes. Lockdown has significantly and negatively affected my “set”. It just doesn’t “feel” right to trip at the moment, and the pre-trip anxiety levels have gone through the roof.
Up until March this year, I was tripping at 2 week intervals. I’ve managed one “almost” trip since, I.e almost strong enough to breakthrough, in the last 5 months now :-(
Take care DJ Ed

My last trip was sometime around a year before all this. I was looking forward to tripping in like, February. Then this. I don't think I could trip at this point, so I guess blessing in disguise. I don't think it would be enjoyable for me, especially being outside and possibly being in public and tripping and losing your mask or something. Then your trip consists of finding your mask until you find it and are no longer freaking out...this is just one example I could see myself running into.
If you do decide to do it, peace and good vibes, but I personally am going to wait

The trip itself, for me, is unchanged. Not to say that I don't worry about this entire situation, but it seems not to carry over into my trips.
However, I've had a few times where I decided against tripping because I had issue breathing (heavy congestion from allergies) and I was afraid that it might be COVID (which it wasn't). But once in the trip, the entire notion of the pandemic seems to be non-existent in that space.
But, just like DJ ED, I have had much more infrequent trips because of my worry that the pandemic thoughts will affect the trip (although I had my most intense trip ever this weekend and, although it was difficult and incredibly frightening at times, not once did the pandemic come to mind. I was just afraid because I never experienced such a powerful, reality bending and body dissolving trip).

Hi,
I see where you're coming from and in the beginning of the lockdown I had quite a shattering experience too.
I tripped by the time so many people died in Italy. I remember reading a story about old people dying in old age homes, left alone as the staff left out of fear getting infected. During that trip I felt all the pain and sadness the pandemic brought. I cryed out my eyeballs for about two hours. After that trip I decided to stop watching the news and tried to shut out everything about the virus as much as I could. Since then I tripped 4-5 times and these trips were quite refreshing and provided me with a positiv outlook in life.
I will continue not watching the news. Why should I feel miserable about things I hardly can change anything about.

I will 100% honest. I was tripping way to much during this pandemic. When the lockdown first started, I had some pretty good trips. The last good trip I had, I spoke with an entity that told me not to take this whole situation personally. He had a “feline” appearance and he further explained that this actually a war that started a long time ago. He told me that war, pestilence, famines have been going on since the beginning and it will continue on this plane of existence until the end. This particular trip was in July, the rest of my trips have been very apocalyptic. Basically visions of great armies on a tropical or a jungle battlefield with casualties, death and destruction.
With what’s going on with the world and the elections right around the corner, I have taken a break from tripping. My set is way off and I feel like any trip I take will be apocalyptic until things calm down a little. This break has been very hard because I LOVE tripping and pushing the envelope on doses. I found some PE blobs I saved a while back and I think I will give it another try Halloween night. You gots trip on Halloween night, right!? LOL With all this said, you aren’t alone with the apocalyptic trips and maybe a little break may be in order. Good luck and pleasant trips

Nope, except the fucking fires east of here in the PNW got right in the way of the research tripping I was doing and cut the season short.
The rest of it - no effect on hyperspace at all.

Thanks for responding guys. I feel better knowing I'm not the only one experiencing this.
I have tripped several times this year and I plan on tripping more. Tripping gets me in touch with my inner psychology and I'm always a better person after tripping so it's not something I want to cancel for the year. When this happens, it's not a negative thing and it doesn't turn the trip "bad." Just an observation I've had this year. It doesn't effect the trip negatively.
What Antigov said is similar to what I've thought about, like wars, famines, droughts and any other stuff that could happen within the next year.
The only times I've had to postpone a trip was when my roommate pissed me off or something or put me in a bad mood. Since I'm home more now, that means I have to deal with my roommate more often which leaves the door open for more annoyance. My next trip I'm going to go to the beach and spend the day there.
I've been doing lower doses also like 1.5g of mushrooms with weed or 60ug lsd with weed so that I still have a small grasp of reality.

even before this year, just the global climate issues and the drudgery of global politics do tend to depress me if I think about them on a trip. I haven't tripped at all this year, partly because I expect my set would also be off

The only effect it has had is on everything but the trip itself. I've had anxiety but once you take the plunge it's all good.

Heavy tripping I’ve avoided since this started but moderate doses of acid have been nice for keeping oriented and centered.

After March, I've also noticed that higher doses get me into some strange realms this year. So I too have kept my doses lower. The cool thing about low doses is that you can smoke weed and it won't make it too strong.
Weed is perfect for low doses.

For some weird reason I actively seek doom and gloom during trips. Just watched an American Murder on LSD come down yesterday. Also watching news or just Trump gives me a nice warm chill while tripping. I'm also a frequent lurker on r/collapse. Death seems to be the essence of life in a way.

coming down is less enjoyable as the people are more crazed, and my mindset is not good for being amongst people even masked and social distanced. the driving is the worst, people drive like they are exploding mind farts, wrong indications, no indications, stopping suddenly, not going when light changes. cyclists are just going anywhere. it's crazy on the streets, better to hide away and trip on the lights out the window, and review eternity and the mystery of selfhood.

It's been much the same for me. There has been no real change or difference in the nature of my trips this past year.

I’ve tripped more this year than I ever have before in my life. However that being said I usually put on adventure time and stay in my bed for the peak. I am able to go to my backyard after the peak and not interact with anyone and not worry about a mask and still be able to enjoy the colors and the sky etc.
I try to block all negativity out of my mind. I can only affect what I do personally so I try to focus on doing the best I can and just loving everything I see

On the 21st September I did my regular Equinoctal trip. I only trip once or twice a year now. I am in my mid seventies now, been tripping since 1973.
In May this year I was diagnosed with lung cancer, a 3cm carcinoma in the right upper lobe. Here in the UK many hundreds of thousands of operations have been cancelled or postponed indefinitely due to Coved19 taking precedence in the hospitals.
I was told that my treatment would consist of having another CT scan in April next year, I tried my best to get this changed, but failed. This led to me getting very angry, so I went into the trip hoping to sort my head out.
It worked, but not in the way I had thought.
I took 100 rather large Libs over a period of 30 mins (in order to slow the come-up), I had the usual anxiety exacerbated by worry over a heart condition. after 50 mins the carpet started breathing so I turned off the lights, lay on the sofa and put on the earphones. I played Shpongle's Inneffable Moments, I'd never tripped to Shpongle before and I got to level 3+ during the first track. During another track I found myself feeling sympathy for all the folk that were suffering more than me due to my government's stupid response to the 'pandemic'.
After Shpongle I played Michele Adamson, 20 minutes in I decided that the angina I was feeling was probably not an hallucination. I checked my B.P, it was 210/96, it also indicated that was (atrial) fibrilating. I continued with my trip (I had no fucking choice), decided that I would not call an ambulance under any circumstances, and did all I could to avoid having stroke, hoping that if it did happen it would be fatal rather than ending up a vegetable.
It was not a bad trip, I sorted out my anger, and I faced an uncomfortable outcome calmly. There are many people suffering far more than me, also I realised that when you mix medicine with politics what you get is politics.
Happy Trails to you all.
