I know you might be thinking to yourself, "Phreakfakt0r ..... how mighty I insure that I have an exact even 60%/40% mix of brown to green material in my compost tumbler?"  Well folks, I just found the best way to do that is to open your compost tumbler and toss in today's scraps and then close the lid.  You will then need to get distracted by your weiner dogs and then .... without thinking ..... tumble your tumbler.  It is at this point you will notice the tumbler rolls much easier and VIOLA .... all your compost mix gets dumped onto the ground.  It is at this point you will remember that you didn't latch the lid and you will spew expletives loud enough for you neighbor to look over the fence to make sure you are OK.  this is where the EXACT mixing part comes into play.  you will then shovel your glorious compost mix back into your tumbler making sure to evenly mix every shovel full.  This is how you will KNOW it's now evenly mixed.  when you are done it should look something like this ->

And yes ... for the record .... my compost WILL grow hair on a door knob.

And I forgot to mention ..... that 400lbs of compost has been amended with the TGA SuperSoil amendments.  The terpene production off of this mix is so odoriferous that the sheriff in the next county can smell the sticky goodness.

Nice! I’m on a quest for some ATC. Brother in law is under the impression that TC is the only thing to grow, he even asked me if he bought the spores, would I grow them and he’d let me keep half  Gimme a break. I’ll grow some TC but the albinos call to me

i hate to be a debbie downer but i don't think that thing is going to work. it might work for small amounts in the center but the overall heat circulation is not going to perform well enough to fill it up. i tried building a dehydrator like that too and it was a miserable fail. i put a space heater on top of a box fan inside a wooden case with shelves, just like your photo. but mine didn't work at all. most space heaters have an overheating sensor that shuts off the heater at about 105-110F. so i could never get mine to run hot enough to fully dry the mushrooms. i tried searching for the overheating sensor to disable it but i aborted that idea because it sounded too dangerous. just buy a food dehydrator. they're safer than a DIY solution.

if you need more space than a presto dehydrator, check out the cabela's 80L or 160L commercial dehydrator. it's expensive but it works.

Finishing the last flushes on some tubs and I had an idea...

One long piece of screen allows me to build out layers in an overlapping upward zig-zag shape to keep the different flushes of different varieties organized and together for bagging/labeling as I take them out of the dehydrator, as one flush is inserted you just fold some of the excess screen hanging out over it and add another layer of mushrooms.

I hear that. Luckily I still have enough from last year, so I didn't grow much really hot peppers this year, just jalapeΓ±os, and my six year old reaper plant.

But last year I had multiple dehydrators full, and cutting alotta super hots definitely seems to aerosolize  the juices and I can really feel the heat across my cheekbones.

Here's a few reapers I picked today:
