Dehydrator question
    #26970059 - 10/05/20 01:54 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

I ended up buying a presto dehydrator that needing fixing and got it going. Seems to be working well thus far.

However I've never owned one nor seen one in action and know no one that owns one to ask.

Does the unit cycle on and off continuously or does it stay running until powered off.

unless it is digital or it has a off/on timer then it stays on.

But if it for some reason cycles, and still gets them cracker dry, I imagine it's fine to use?

I could see some being designed such that the element cycles on/off so not to overheat, but the fan should stay on.

I’d be worried there’s some faulty wire or sensor. Idk much about dehydrators but I’ve got two and they both stay on indefinitely.

Daaammmnn iiiit.

Thx frands!

Mine heats ups and the thermal switch kicks the entire unit off then cycles back on once it cools. Fan Included.

Hmm gots some tinkering to do. (But it works for the time being atleast!)

You might want to search the forum a little more, I have a presto dehydrator and it was doing the same thing, it is to regulate temp. You also might want to test the temp it runs at when at full blast. If it has a temp guage you can adjust and use a digital thermometer to find the right temp needed. I believe you just dont want to go over 160F but it is ideal to stay at around 100-120F.

With mine, i found a post on here years ago where you could actually take apart the dehydrator and disable the temp regulator so it does not shut off. You basically uscrew a wire nut and tape it off. Just be careful and run it while you are able to watch it for hours before you ever leave it alone at home. And my fruits get dried within 45mins to 2hrs with my dehydrator.

Now in case of a fire hazard, i didnt tell you to do this, some other post on here did

I didn't even think to search the forum lmao wooooow. Derp. I just thought it was a problem with mine.

All im trying to do is get the fan to stay on and let the heating element cycle as it's supposed to. (Currently the entire unit turns off when the high temp is reached)

Thanks for the tips!
